So I am aware this question as been asked a million and one times, but I just have to ask about it. I know that old school televisions (CRT) televisions are the best kinds of televisions to use for Smash because they eliminate lag (but I honestly don't notice it because of the tv I have has been used for a long time). Now I am pretty sure a lot of people are just going to say say go get a a CRT television, but from what I know finding one isn't exactly easy nowadays since HDTV's are the common thing and are to my knowledge are more inexpensive. The one other disadvantage that I can think of that a old school television has is that they are usually pretty large, which in my case is a problem since I don't have room for a tv that large.
Now for my ACTUAL QUESTION. As far as LCD/HDTV's go what would be the ideal television to buy in order to get rid of the apparent lag (I want to get better at the game, and clearly I'm not going to get anywhere near my full potential if I keep using the TV I have)? I heard that LCD/HDTV's that have a "Game Mode" eliminate the lag or at least some of it, but I dunno how true that is. I also read somewhere that component cables also help eliminate the lag or some of it, but I'm not sure if Nintendo makes official component cables or if you have to buy off brand ones.
So any way if anyone has any information on this that would be much help, please and thank you.
