Tech Practice

I've played Falco for quite a while, and I'm pretty good, but not great.

I've got a tournament coming up this saturday, and I was wondering what specific tech practice I can do by myself since a lot of people I play with are still in school. I know the Bowser trick for practicing pillaring, waveshining, and standing multi-shining, but what else is there to do by yourself? Aside from the obvious things like SHL practice for better accuracy, LHDL practice, and wavelanding practice.

Thanks for the advice in advance guys

You got the bulk of it, try out your 0-40 combos on varying levels of cpu foxs & falcos (lvl 3-6) because they DI differently. Maybe fire stalling, low ledge hopped phantasms, shortened phantasms, sweetspotting w/ firebird. Make sure you're moving correctly (pulse walking, wavedancing, dash dancing, pulse dancing, roll dancing: jk)

gotta love roll dancing ;D I'm pretty proficient in all of the things you mentioned, except my combos on fox/falco's. When I started playing Falco, I was really good at Fox/Falco combos, but as I progressed (and no one around me plays fox or falco really) I got so used to comboing Marths, Ganons, sheiks, docs, etc. that I lost the ability to combo Fox's/Falco's well, what should I do to change that quickly?

he means putting him at handicap 9 and you at 1 and the damage ratio to 0.5 and just practice pillaring on him because he acts like a shield.

ohh. that makes sense . im gonna try it :)

umm since we're talking about the 'bowser trick' =/ how do you do all of the doubleshine practice? :( i dont understand how to be able to shine like that unless you hold the controller like you'd hold it for soulcalibur or tekken
is that what people do ? to actually pillar (as in doubleshining the shield) how can you move your fingers to two different positions so fast ?

What I do is hit the left edge of Y with the tip of my thumb and slide my thumb down real fast to the b button and use the "knuckle?" of my thumb to hit the B button. You've got a 6 frame window to do it without leaving the ground at all, just practice it a lot. Make sure to practice it on bowser so that you're actually hitting something and therefore it's like you're using it in an actual match

From 0% on fox pending DI you can normally do dair, shine, wavedash, dair, shine, wavedash, dair, shine, wavedash to either jump shine to bair, or upair to something.

That's normally what I do when playing cpu falcos and foxes. I just try to keep it very consistent and react to which way they end up DIing. The other thing I focus on since I have trouble with it is to make sure I can wavedash backwards out of shines. I hate it when I turn around in the shine.
