I need help with teching with Falco. Any suggestions on when/ how to do it?

Hold L/R within 1/3 of a second until you hit the wall. DI towards where you want to tech. Or smash DI towards it. Hit/Hold up as you tech to walljump instead.

Hit L or R within 20 frames before hitting the surface.
In order to actually HIT the surface, sometimes you have to SDI, which is DI in the hitlag of an attack. So, mash your control stick towards the ledge whenever the attack that you're being edgeguarded with hits you (sorry, you just have to eyeball the timing)
If done correctly, you'll (invisibly) run into the wall and since you pressed L/R, you'll tech off of it.

Both of those guys did a great job replying. Teching is the same for any character. You'll find stickies in the General Melee Discussion forum teaching you more about advance techniques.
