Hi, as you can see I'm new to these boards and let me give you some background on my ssbm experience.

First off, I do now even own this game, however I often play it with friends. We usually have small tourneys of 8 people round-robin style, with me usually placing 2nd. So I would like to know how I could take my game to the next level. My friend who places 1st plays with fox as well as me and so I would like to know some strategies to help counter that. Keep in mine I'm a total noob when it comes to this game and I have only recently discovered simple things such as wave-dashing. I've read some of the guides and well it seems like way to much to think about for a casual player like me. So what things do you think I should focus on first before I get to some of the more complex things. Sorry if this is a stupid question, and if you need any more details just ask.

ok, there you go. Mindgames, and tech skill. That's all you need.

NOT! You need a ton of experience against all sorts of different players, but those guides above will let you get competitive with those tons of other players.

i remember my first couple of threads on SWF and they were exactly like this and now im addicted to smash/tourneys/winning. hpoog you have a long and happy smash life ahead of you.

best peice of advice ive ever been given is to always think and never lose your focus. once you can start reading your opponent they are putty in your hands just begging to be 4 stocked. but remember that you can be read too ^^.

do you live in NJ hpoog? if you do lets play sometime id be happy to show you some stuff.

If you're just a casual gamer then you should forget about it, if not then watch any of threads/videos already posted and good luck

Aww... it wasn't my advice...

Personally my favorite advice is Isai's: "Don't Get Hit", and to try to prove to them that it's good advice.

practice dash dancing and grabbing, then up throw and up smash/up air. That's all you will need vs. your friends.

I suggest reading cunning kitsune's guide. It should be stickied to this board. It helped me become a really good fox player. It's really long, but worth the read.
