My Hori Mini Pad just came in, felt really awkward at first but after hours of practicing, it feels MUCH better. Movement is so much more free; dashing, pivoting, connecting and aiming attacks, dodging attacks, platform movement and dropping are so much easier and much more efficient than my N64. I have yet to play actual matches, so I don't know about DI and spacing yet. I'm still not fully used to it, but it feels good. It's smaller than I thought it'd be but the buttons feel much more smoother, the analog stick nor the buttons hurt my fingers. It feels somewhat tougher on my forearms however.
I've only tested it on emulator so far, haven't tested it on console (don't have TV for it right now) or online yet. But I'm confirmed to make this switch and are very satisfied with it. You're going to experience a new WOTG for now on :)

Some more additional info:
- Seems to be more easier to Z Cancel
- Characters feel a lot different and somewhat easier to use, also harder to uair
- Shorthopping is a bit more awkward and harder to do
- Have to re-learn how to play the game in different ways, it definitely changes the way I play.
- I used the Isai joystick/analog practice test, and 77-80% Range with 5% Deadzone seems to work best for me with the Raphnet adapter.
- I have 4 N64 controllers, all old from back in 90s of the N64 prime era. All warn out with bad joysticks, so it was definitely time to make a change.

Mine was shipped from japan on the 7th so it should be coming pretty soon. Snagged it for $41.

Could probably flip it on ebay for $70 (a lot of people would be willing to pay that to have it shipped usps and have it in 3 days rather than bid for 5 days and wait a month for shipping like I am). But If i like it imma keep it. Only thing I'm worried about is SH/platdrop/FF uairs which are a big part of my falcon game so let me know how those are.

Most likely EBay. WOTG, your first impressions have deterred me from getting a HORI. I'm gonna see through my plan of sticking a GameCube analog stick on a 64 controller, lol.

It's harder but definitely still possible, depends on the person, but I can still do them. Still not fully used to it just after one day, but feels great already for me.

Hori master-race reporting in.

I love my Hori and I'm thinking about buying another one soon, mostly because the prices will only rise, and I've put a serious amount of hours into my current one. I'm not sure if the stick is starting to become a bit looser, or if it will break soon. Nevertheless it still works, and handles, like a charm.

SH uairs; no problem. Platdrop & FF uair are a bit harder because you have to go from 180 up to 0, which seems to lead to jumps more easily as the Hori stick is way easier to move, making it way easier to overshoot the tilt. However, pivots become so much breezier, and taunt cancelling is a million times easier. Also, I prefer the Z-button on the shoulders, and it's cool how it gives you two of them.

The only other issues I could really think of is, 1. the size (I found it a bit too small when I first got it, but now that I'm comfortable with it I don't notice it at all). 2. the buttons seem a bit different in shape and distance from each other. I feel like SHDL is easier on a OG 'troller but still very doable on the Hori.

Actually, now I think about it, once you're used to the size of it, it becomes a benefit as it's more compact for mobility, storage, w/e.

You're also gonna need a Raphnet adapter if you don't already have one/bought a Mayflash.

Did you purchase from a website?
ebay. I actually see these regularly going for 40-50$, just not via buy it now.

and yeah, going to have to drop another 30$ on a raphnet if I end up liking the hori and not selling it

Apologize for week later double post but my hori came in this weekend.

Pros - I think it looks sexy. Dash dancing and pivots felt more responsive and more reliable, and somewhat easier. I can see pivot utilts definitely being easier with kirby with this. Taunt Cancelling is way less awkward and can be implemented mid combo. I can tell it'll be a long fking time before the stick wears out.

Cons - Its small. The one time I've been upset that I have large hands. Hitting R feels slightly uncomfortable for grabs since it feels kind of cramped. The main thing (that other people complain about too) is it feels like the range is too high. I kept double-jumping for SH uairs with fox/falcon/pika. Maybe its something I just have to get used to. Also, I'll have to drop another 30 bucks if I wanna play online for the raphnet.

We'll see. Might just turn it around for a small profit on ebay.

I set up and tried on console and it feels great, much better than the original controller. Movement feels so smooth with no excessive unwanted movement or anything holding you back. I downloaded the latest n-rage plugin (v2.3), which has settings that feel more closer to console. 5% Deadzone, 66% Range, and uncheck "real n64 range", and it feels just about exactly like console. You also have to carefully calibrate your controller on PC, so it works right on emulator, make sure it's all the way plugged in to your adapter too.

I also bought mine for about $70, used on Ebay, and got a raphnet for $30. Despite that, it works fine and feels worth the purchase. Only thing that seems to be difficult now is ff uairs and uairing through platforms consistently. Everything else feels about the same now, with smoother and more responsive movement.
