SWF's Top 10 Brawl Choices (Updated 10.15)

Starting out as an experiment caused by boredom, I started browsing through the Brawl Character Discussion. I sorted the threads by replies, and wrote down the stats of the top 10 character threads. Those stats being replies, views, and the date the thread was created. The results-- updated weekly, on mondays, are as follows:

As of: 10/15/07, 7:46p MST. Numbers will be updated every monday, whenever I find the time to do so.

If there are any other threads made for these characters that have been locked, and have more than 250 replies, PM ME the link me to the thread, and I can add them to the reply/views total.

Now, don't go thinking this list is entirely 100% based on character popularity. I know for a fact that the Krystal thread is full of spam, and that Sonic has just as many haters as he does fans. These are just the most discussed characters on Smashboards, whether their discussion was for the character's inclusion, against it, or even just spam. The list itself is a bit controversial-- but still really interesting, no?

Even though that's the case, I've noticed that there's some competition between these 10 characters. All of them are very likely to be included in Brawl. Three of them, Diddy, PT, and just recently Sonic, have even been confirmed as playable characters.

It's been a long time, SWF. These are the best of the best. The most wanted, the most hated, and most controversial characters SWF's 75k+ members could think of.

Who, of these 7, still stand a chance in Brawl? Who doesn't?

I don't think Crystal stands much of a chance here, as I'm sadly not even confident Falco will return. Geno is popular, but he along with Megaman, Wolf, and Toad probably won't see inclusion.

Wolf won't make it, Falco and Krystal have to, Geno has a fair chance and Toad has a little chance.

Those look like they could fit perfectly into the SSBB line up. Though I'm a bit iffy on Wolf and Toad (even though Peach still uses him) has a small chance.

Of those, I'd say Krystal, Sonic, and Ridley are shoe-ins. Wolf, Geno, and Mega Man, maybe (though I wouldn't bet on Wolf, and admit to possessing little knowledge about Geno). Toad, not a chance. Lucario, I won't comment - Pokèmon are too difficult to predict, since theres nearly 500 of them.

Wow, three confirmed already , eh? I guess we won't see anymore of the requested characters for ages. Sakurai will probably give us Lucas-style newcomers for a while (if he reveals any at all...).

In terms of who I'd like, then certainly Geno and Lucario. Ridley might be harder mechanically wiser, and I see him as more of a boss, but I'm not against a new character!

Awesome research Xsyven. I feel Toad should be lower. I always forget about him and don't see too much "Toad FTW" that when going through posts. Wow, why the big gap w/ Ridley > everyone else? Yay every character on top 10 post/view list. Less yay for Toad, would rather have just about anyone else: Isaac, Bomberman, Chrono, Sora, Sandbag(<-- half jkingly).

Ridley has two threads combined-- no one's provided me links for any of the other top 10. The first Ridley thread was locked. I just took the numvers, and never bothered to look at the posts. I assume it was full of spam.

Alright, the numbers have been updated!

This weeks updates:
-Megaman has boosted up to the #3 spot, but only by nine above Krystal. It wouldn't come to a shock if Krystal takes her #3 spot back within the next ten minutes. Until next Monday though, Krystal has taken the #4 spot, and Diddy is settled at #5.
-Big green checkmark added next to Sonic!

And that's about it! It seems as if there's been a big increase of Megaman discussion lately.
