Sweetspot Enlightenment and a Question

So it occured to me that no Marth's actually sweetspot the ledge anymore save NEO (clearly he was ahead of his time). It's a lot lower than you would think.

My question is, if someone is edgehoging you, and rolls at the last second, which technique would buy you more frames before you are too low to grab the edge? A sweetspot or the common ^B that is just barely not a sweetspot (Marth's head goes about the stage).

Now, I don't know how good Marth's sweetspot is at avoiding hits, but what it is good at is messing up virtually anyone's timing, because no one is used to this it seems, especially people trying to roll-edgehog you.

I'm not sure what you mean, If they are light shield hogging you it doesn't matter if you sweetspot or not, Fox or Falco will still be able to grab the edge before you do. This is why PC Chris's shield to jc shine works so well. He can light shield if you go low, or just shield and shine you if you try to go for the stage. The reason for this is no matter how you sweetspot Marth's sword sticks out above and in front of him slightly so you will always hit above the stage if your riding up the wall. The only way I know of avoiding this tactic besides going for the stage, is to upB away from the stage allowing you to grab the edge as you fall back (basically making it so your sword doesn't hit anything on the stage). It works but not always as other players will catch on.

No one actually sweetspots the ledge anymore? That's news to me seeing that any decent marth that I've played, myself included, sweetspot the edge all the time when the situation calls for it.

Obviously you don't want to use marth's sweet spot if you think he is going to roll-edgehog you. Either up b several framers earlier than a sweetspot to force them off the edge earlier, or up b onto the stage. Or force them off with an aerial for forward b if close enough.

Obvious stuff.

Yes, I agree with b-will..most good marths will be sweetspotting consistently besides a few mess ups..especially if the situation really calls for it, it should be a regular thing.
