As long as you don't make profit out of it, then it's all good. Will keep in touch to see your progress!

Looking good! Is there gonna be a beta of it soon? Besides, there should be checking for bug fixes on different devices.

What's so bad about making a profit out of the game?
Nothing. It's just if he makes profit using Nintendo characters can get him into trouble.

However, if it has original characters, stages, items, any else that doesn't come from Nintendo or any other company would be fine to make profit out of. Take Super Smash Clash on Android/Ios for example.

But I assume the developer doesn't even have the idea of profit anyway for this fan game so I wouldn't be worried.

I see. That's kind of what happened when Nintendo banned Project M, right?

Not exactly. Project M is not funded in anyway. Although I can't say much as why Project M was banned. It was probably that Nintendo doesn't want to show off a mod of their own game.

No it was because wavecheating and fun cancelling isn't the way the game is supposed to be played! You should always have 2 minute time battles and items on high! /s

Seriously, though, they banned it because they took a sudden step towards appealing to the casual market. I don't know the exact quote, but Sakurai once said he did not want smash to be just played by "maniacs" (the competitive community).
Sakurai: Mostly I don't incorporate feedback like that. Basically, Smash Bros. is designed to be sort of targeted at the center, intermediate players, and if you think of sort of a skill graph or something where if you're targeting just the peak of that performance level, you're targeting a very small group of people. We wanna avoid a situation where it becomes a game sort of like other competitive fighting games, where it's only apreciated by a very small, passionate group of sort of maniac players. We definitely don't want that sort of situation. It's supposed to be a fun game for a wide variety of people.[source]
Their fear is that the game will become so inaccessible to new players that they won't buy it at all (which in my opinion is complete bullcrap, but don't mind me). Despite having a very big hardcore following, most of the people who play smash are casuals, so if they lose that casual fanbase, their profits will plummet. This is the reason why they took out the intricate physics of Melee in Brawl, and when the PMDT tried to put it back in, they are trying to erase its existence out of smash.

By the way, OP, your game looks really solid. When I get my new phone in a few weeks, I'll definitely try it out!

So I've tried it, here are my thoughts.

It's a good start, but it is also questionable with some decisions for the game. First off, the gameplay is a little wonky. I mean, you move on the right side of the screen and if you want to attack, you have to tap a button on the left side and press one of the 4 buttons on the right side, doing so will make you unable to move around until you press the button on the left again. It just doesn't work well if you are trying to bring in the smash gameplay.

Menu is a bit confusing to use. You have to select one of the available characters by taping them, then press select. Not a big deal, but it is more of a nitpick.

Sprites look decent but can be a bit more polished. Stage looks fine and a great start for this game.

Sounds don't really exist so I can't really say much about that.

Overall, it's understandable for a beta, the gameplay was my biggest issue for me. If you want the gameplay to feel like smash, look up Super Smash Land, a game that looks like a gameboy game with the gameplay as only using a directions and 2 buttons or Super Smash Clash, a mobile smash game that uses a analog on the left screen and 3 buttons on the right (standard, special, jump). If you want to keep the same style kind of gameplay you're using, keep on polishing that then as it may need a lot more work.

I'll go ahead to put up 5 stars to help the ratings and for hoping to see the final product (which not many fan games really reach that point for smash, so I hope to see this one come out alive).

So while trying to update Super Smash Fighters, google suspended my game from the app store, even after various attempts to change the sprites and icons to my own.

We are currently working on a update with all new characters that will be accepted by the play store. Unfortunately this will be an all new app, as I can no longer update the one that was released.

Thank you for your coorporation and sorry for the inconvience.

Kind of explains why I couldn't find it.

If you can't submit on Google Play, how about putting the download on your website? This way you can feature all the Smash content without it being removed.

In the list of permissions, this one was called "read phone state", I kept this one because I thought since this was a battling game that is was important to know if state of the phone (ie if you get a phone call or if the screen turns off) so the game will be able to pause. In future updates, I will see if this permission is actually needed for this function or not.

Makes way more sense. I will give it a try!
