I have big hands. Really big hands. Simply playing a game like Mario Kart made my hands cramp up and the XL doesn't help much either. I can't imagine the arthritis from the deepest depths of hell I would develop playing Smash on a handheld.

I remember hearing this somewhere else as well. It would have been interesting to see how it would have worked on a system as weak as the DS

So are you out for the 3DS version? :p

He said it was a concern about the power being able to handle a Smash game, so I guess the 3DS finally makes it possible?

It'd probably be much more watered down and focus on avoiding framerate issues. I don't know how much strength the DS's hardware had, so it's hard to say whether a Smash installment would work or not. I'd personally say it'd be between N64 and Gamecube level. Heck, even a remake of Smash 64 with online would be good enough for the DS.

The DS could run mario 64.. Probably around smash 64's speed but the choppiest framerates ever

I don't have much to add to the discussion, but readers should know Riley Little's claim that there will be completely different stages between the 3DS and Wii U versions is false, and at best unproven.

"So far it’s been confirmed that all of the characters between both versions will be the same, but the stages will be completely different..."

Sakurai has only stated that there will be more stages based on console games on the Wii U and more stages based on the handheld games on the 3DS.

I feel you. Snaking on the DS lite was a pain in the ***.

I'm all for a 3DS XXL.

I just can't see it happening. Nintendo's market is primarily towards families, kids, and casual gamers. They already made a larger size, and a XXL would mean they'd have to question its portability with such a large system.

They actually have one that you can attach to your 3ds. I know it works for monster hunter
