Cartoon Violence, Comic Mischief, Mild Suggestive Themes

Smash finally gets a suitable rating. I doubt the lack of crude humor means the Wario Waft is gone. The Mild Suggestive Themes could be attributed to Palutena's trailer. God dang it, Shaft. Or maybe it has something to do with the trophies, like the Twinrova one. Or if there are any Congratulations screens that they decided to make suggestive (i.e. Zero Suit Samus) then that could play a role in it.

But yeah, E10+, that works.

Discuss.

Maybe they finally figured out farts are just crude and not humor

Eh, farts are funny at the right times, but they sure aren't offensive or crude.

Haha yeah. Now that I think of it Brawl had the E3 2006 trailer which had a big Wario fart in it, so that could've contributed to it. And Snake's codec for Wario brought up farting too. So perhaps if the Wario Waft returns the game didn't give it any special attention in the form of trailers or codecs. Lol.

E10+?
...

Nah but in all seriousness, Smash finally got a suitable rating, like Nat said.

(waits for the inevitable trolls who declare that having a lower rating than Melee or Brawl automatically makes it a "kiddy game")

But what about all that very mild nudity??!

How am I supposed to keep my kids safe from this Nintendo smut?!!

This is a kid's game because it was made by Nintendo and it isn't a good game because it isn't an FPS

Lol but seriously, the rating doesn't really matter to me
If they think it's worse just because of the lower rating, they're looking at games wrong

God dang it, Shaft.

And this doesn't even include the nudity, or the third movie...
not going to lie, 2 of these scenes actually terrify the hell out of me

Why didn't this get an "M" rating? :troll:

Don't ESRB ratings sometimes have descriptions for why a game gets rated a certain way? Could some details leak out that way?

I don't think anything's changed. The ESRB is made of under twenty people, and they rate games based on their own personal morals and information the company gives them rather than playing the game itself or looking at the data (which is what caused the GTA San Andreas fiasco).

Inconsistency is not surprising.

This makes much more sense then T, although for some reason I have a feeling that this is based on there being less detail due to the smaller screen or something. Not that that would make sense or anything, but we'll see when the Wii U version is rated.

I still find it ironic that the one E-rated Smash game was the one where Master Hand gave you the finger, and that the later ones which censored it were rated T. (Especially Melee, which also had a censored version of the DK rap from the E-rated DK64)

Like I said, take ESRB with a grain of salt. All they really care about is "M" and "Not M", and they don't know how make the smaller divisions in "not M".

Actually, you're right. Can't believe I forgot about this.

I remember when Sonic Lost World was rated E10+, the details for why included some quotes from the game's cutscenes (so these quotes were leaked out pre-maturely) and such, that were rather hilarious when our only context for them at the time was "these quotes are from a Sonic game":

"You're goin' home in a box!"
"I'm gonna skin you alive!"
"I long for death's cold embrace."
"I'll get fat from eating your black hearts."
"One minute you're contemplating genocide."

It's probably because Zamus is still running around in a form-fitting suit, but Snake's not there to make innuendo about it.
