I thought of this story around the time Brawl was released, when people were finally cooling down about _____ not being in the game. It seemed like a nice idea at the time, and folks on other forums seemed to enjoy it, so I figured, why not here?

I'm sure you had at least one character you really, really wanted in the game. Come on, we all did. Well it turns out that those characters aren't too happy about not joining the fight, and have decided to show up anyway, (even though they weren't invited.) This story shows us the many adventures they have, either problems amongst themselves or trying to live with the fighters in secret.

It was meant to be a comedy, but I think I crossed that line very early on.

--- Chapter One: The Witch & The Swordsman ---

"Come on-"

"No."

"But we all have so much to offer-"

"I said NO, Roy. Now get out of my sight."

The red haired boy sighed, lowering his sword. He was once again the spokesman for a few characters who had heard they weren't going to be participating in the new Smash Bros. venture. Since Roy had the most courage out of them, or rather he was stupid enough to be convinced, he was always sent to try and reason with Master Hand.

But no matter what he tried, the giant glove kept refusing him. He tried begging, he tried pleading, and he even tried candy and flowers (Which might've worked, if the chocolate pieces didn't all have coconut filling. No one likes coconut.)

As he was warped away from the large platform known as the "Final Destination," he appeared in front of a large mansion. He sighed heavily as he walked in, seeing a small group of people waiting for him.

"So, how did it go?"

A small boy in green clothing stepped forward, holding a milk bottle in his hand. It was Young Link, the youth version of the Hero of Time. Roy shook his head, causing Young Link to look down in depression.

"Aw crap … Again?" He asked. Roy nodded.

"I don't know what to try … Maybe if one of you newbies try it?" Roy said, looking at the group. A girl stepped forward, with large black ponytails and an orange hair clip to keep them in place. A long red dress covered her, with a scarf and skull broche around her neck.

"This is just ridiculous - It's a giant hand. You can't convince a body part to let us fight each other?" She asked, looking rather annoyed. Roy walked past the group, sitting down in a small chair against the wall.

"He's said it before Ashley, no means no." Roy looked up, seeing the girl's eyes had now turned a blood red, and were beginning to glow. Roy tried backing up, but was forced against the wall as Ashley approached him, looking directly into his eyes.

"You're going to give up this easily? How in the world did you make it into the previous fight? You're nothing but a coward!" Ashley said, her glare not changing. Roy gulped, finally gaining some courage and looking back at the girl.

"Who are you calling a coward? You just hide behind your magic - Witches can't fight!" He said, shaking slightly. Ashley clenched her hand, raising her arm and aiming her fist directly for Roy's nose.

"How dare you! You're gonna pay for-" Ashley's fist was stopped short as something pulled her dress, pulling her backwards. Ashley looked down, seeing a small Devil pulling with all his might to get her away from Roy. "Red, let go. He's getting what he deserves." Ashley said, trying to knock the little devil away. Red shook his head, tugging on her even more.

"Violence doesn't solve anything!"

Everyone became silent, exchanging glances. Red quickly realized what he said, and released his grip.

"I mean … This isn't violence! This is all E-rated fun, and we're not actually getting hurt!" He said, still looking nervous. Ashley smirked, raising her arm once again.

"Then I suppose Roy won't mind getting his jaw broken!" She said, her punch connecting and hitting the boy hard in the face, knocking him over. As Roy lay against the wall in a daze, a small girl pushed Ashley aside, looking down with concern.

"Are you okay, Roy? Speak to me!" The girl had a beautiful white dress on, with large black eyes - The 'Toon' version of Princess Zelda. Roy nodded, standing and dusting himself off.

"Yeah, I'm fine. As for you …" He glared at Ashley, who returned the look. Roy grabbed his sword, holding it firmly and pointing it at the Witch. Ashley held out a palm, looking down at Red. The small devil nodded, crossing his arms. A puff of smoke surrounded him, a magic wand appearing and flying into Ashley's hand. The wand glowed as Ashley pointed it directly towards Roy.

"It's on."

---

This chapter was very short, as I was nervous about the reactions I would get. Future chapters aren't THIS small, I promise. I have ... I think 8 or so more written already, although I'm not sure on the exact number. I'd like to wait until I get at least one positive review before I post the 2nd chapter.

This may be filled to the brim with typos, as I haven't checked it since I first posted it months ago in another forum, so please ignore them.

Eh, screw it. I'll post more.

--- Chapter Two: Magic VS Steel! ---

"Bring it on, Witch!"

"I'm telling you, back down now, or I WILL make you regret it."

Roy and Ashley were standing face-to-face, fire in their eyes - Around them stood various other characters, some looking excited, some looking scared. Throughout all of this, Red kept tugging on Ashley's dress while begging her to stop the argument.

"Ashley, please! He isn't worth it!" The little Devil said as he kept tugging on the red garment. Ashley quickly swatted him away, the creature flying against the wall.

"That's some hit." Young Link blinked, amazed that a simple hand movement sent the Devil flying that far. Red stood up, rubbing his head as the room began to turn dark. The group was now in a land of nothingness - All that they saw was a dark black. Suddenly, the room began to shine, and the group felt a strong pull - Something was taking them somewhere … But where?

BOOM!

The group hit the ground hard, all except for Ashley and Roy, who still looked like they could tear each others' throats out. Ashley raised her wand as Roy grabbed his sword, the two jumping back and landing at opposite sides of the level. The surrounding area was a wooden platform, floating above a rather quaint, beautiful village - The town of Smashville. Behind them, various animals were standing and starting to cheer, along with a few humans that looked surprised to see everyone. Out of nowhere, a voice rang out, causing everyone to look up.

"3 … 2 … 1 … GO!"

"Wait!"

A monkey with a long, flowing blonde ponytail came running between the two - A pink top and a matching hat were the only clothing on her body. She stood directly in the middle of the stage, stopping Ashley and Roy, who were already beginning to charge towards each other. Roy shrugged as Dixie blocked his way.

"Come on, Dixie. Let us finish what SHE started." He said, looking behind the monkey and glaring at Ashley. The Witch nodded in agreement, her red eyes beginning to glow with anger.

"Move it, primate. This has nothing to do with you." Ashley said, starting up her dash yet again. Before Dixie could reply, the Witch jumped over her, her wand pointing at the red-haired swordsman. A red blast of power shot from the wand's red jewel, flying towards Roy.

"Whoa!" The boy yelled, holding his sword it front of him. Amazingly, the beam was deflected by the metal, flying off and into the face of a nearby Raccoon, charring both him and the blue apron he wore. Neither fighter seemed to notice as Ashley landed, watching the boy for his next move.

Roy didn't move an inch - Instead, he held his sword firm as a field of energy began to shine around him - He was charging an attack.

"Take THIS!" The boy yelled, slashing his sword forward. The strike did its job - Ashley went flying backwards, landing on her back. She quickly stood up, dashing towards Roy yet again, and jumping high into the air. As Roy looked up, he was greeted with a barrage of kicks - Ashley's small feet pounded into his face at a very fast speed, the Witch jumping off as soon as Roy hit the ground.

A small item appeared before them - It was a glass shell, with a golden stand on the bottom - An Assist Trophy. Ashley quickly grabbed it and held it high, giving Roy a wicked smirk as the shell burst open, revealing 2 small girls wielding blades - Kat & Ana.

"Katana!" The two girls yelled in unison as they zoomed through the sky, each sword slashing at Roy with every movement, causing the boy intense damage and knocking him into the air, high into the sky. The two paused in mid-air, nodding to each other as a flash of light caused them to disappear.

Ashley's smirk didn't leave as she watched Roy stand up again. Before the boy could move, Ashley had already gripped him by the collar, holding him above the platform's edge. Looking deep into his eyes, she muttered:

"You must recover."

With that, she kicked the boy hard in the stomach, sending him flying from the platform. As Roy regained his senses, he saw that he was quickly falling into what seemed like nothing. He looked up, focusing on the platform and thrusting his sword high into the air - This somehow caused his body to shoot up, giving him a chance to grab the platform's edge. Just as he was about to stand, the voice rang out yet again:

"5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … 1 … GAME!"

The group was warped from the stage, soon landing back in the mansion's living room. Roy looked around, rubbing his head.

"Okay … What just happened, and how did we get back here?" He thought out loud as he looked around, seeing the group that had warped with him - Ashley was still giving her angered glare, while Red attempted to calm her down - Toon Zelda helped Young Link stand up, the two exchanging smiles. Dixie Kong was already gone - Roy had no idea where she'd escaped to. It was strange - After Dixie had attempted to stop the fight, it seemed like only he and Ashley were the only two left on the stage.

Oh well - It was over anyway. But just what was it …?

As Roy stood, he saw a small man looking up at him - A man in a red hat with blue overalls. The man looked up at Roy with a smile on his face.

"Your first Brawl, huh?"

" … Brawl? I've fought plenty of times, Mario." Roy replied as he put his sword away. Mario shook his head, patting the boy's shoulder.

"No … You've been in a Melee. This is Brawl country now, Roy." Mario said as Roy took one more look around - Everything seemed normal, but one thing bothered him - Master Hand said he and the others couldn't participate this time around - Why was it that he and Ashley were able to fight?

---

That question is never answered. I forgot about it completely.

Mario sounds so... cultured. So unlike him.
Good story, I guess you really wanted Toon Zelda and Ashley in Brawl, huh?
I'm interested in how they ended up fighting each other in Brawl when they're not even in it.
I'll keep reading!

Here's Chapter 3. The fighting question, like I said at the end of 2, was never answered. I had forgotten about it completely, and never bothered to go back to it. This is one of the lamer chapters, I'll admit. Future ones are much, much better.

--- Chapter Three: Vacation? ---

"Attention, all fighters. Please come to the main foyer."

A deep voice rang out throughout the mansion - Master Hand needed something. A large group gathered, all looking for a sign of the large glove. In the back of the room, Roy, Ashley, and Toon Zelda were also trying to find the hand. As Master Hand began to appear before everyone, he immediately turned and pointed at Roy's small group.

"I said all FIGHTERS. You shouldn't even be here, I've told you to leave." The hand said, turning and pointing at two double-doors. Roy was about to speak up, but Toon Zelda grabbed his hand, shaking her head. The three made their way through the large crowd in front of them, silently making their way from the mansion. Master Hand continued speaking as soon as the door was closed.

"Good. Anyway …"

That was all Roy heard as the door was slammed behind them. Toon Zelda looked depressed, and Ashley looked like she could tear the door from its hinges. Roy sighed.

"Okay, guys … I don't know what just happened, but we definitely need to figure something out." Roy said, sighing.

"I know what's going on!" A small voice exclaimed from nowhere. The 3 looked down, seeing Red peek out from behind Ashley's legs. He smiled as he walked out, thrusting his pitchfork into the air. "Everyone's going on a vacation!"

"A vacation? Where are they going?" Toon Zelda asked, looking skeptical. Red's smile didn't change as he turned around and pointed his pitchfork in a random direction.

"I'm not sure, but I think they're going to Brawl Beach." He said, turning to see Roy and Toon Zelda about to burst into laugher, and Ashley still looking annoyed.

"Brawl Beach? That's REALLY the name?" Roy asked, forcing himself to not laugh. Red nodded, looking confused.

"Yeah, it's right next to Melee harbor."

That did it - Roy and Toon Zelda both hit the ground, laughing hysterically.

"Those names are so STUPID!" Roy said, holding his sides, laughing so hard that he was in pain. Red stayed quiet, looking disturbed at the two on the ground.

"It's not like I came up with the names, Roy … I think Crazy Hand did." He said, Roy just laughing even harder at this.

"Well, THAT explains a lot!"

… Meanwhile, inside the mansion …

"Everyone ready to go?" Peach yelled throughout the building, looking around to see everyone gather, most of them carrying bags, blankets, and umbrellas. Everyone seemed to be there, except … Where was Toon Link?

The Toon version of the Hero of Time was upstairs in his room, finishing up his packing.

"This is gonna be awesome, my first time out with my new friends-Ugh!" Something cut him off, that something grabbing his neck and pulling him down to the ground, the boy's eyes slowly closing. The figure released the boy, a wicked laugh coming from it.

"I'm here!" A young boy's voice rang out as he entered the main foyer. Peach smiled at his appearance - It was Toon Link, but he looked … Different. Were his eyes smaller? Well, his clothing seemed to be the same. The boy didn't notice her stare as everyone headed out the door, making their way to the beach. Just as Toon Link closed the door behind him, something fell from his back pocket - A glass bottle with a smiling cow on the front of it.

… Back outside the main gates …

Roy and Toon Zelda had finally stopped laughing enough for Roy to start thinking about the situation. Just as he spoke up, Ashley slapped him in the back of the head, causing the boy to quickly turn around.

"What the heck was THAT for?" He yelled, seeing Ashley pointing towards the mansion.

"Everyone left. I'm going back, it's hot in here." The Witch said, walking back into the building with Red following. Toon Zelda shrugged, opening the mansion door and going inside herself. After a moment of thought, Roy sighed and followed the others inside, closing the door behind him.

"Okay, we're all here; Dixie's here somewhere … Where's Young Link?" Roy asked, Ashley and Toon Zelda both shrugging. Just as he was about to speak up, a puff of smoke started to appear before the three, an Imp-ish figure appearing.

She had black skin, with neon blue markings on her body. Only one of her eyes could be seen, but they could plainly see a devilish grin on her face. She had a helmet-like thing on her head, with a blast of orange fur coming from it … Or was it hair? Roy couldn't tell. The Imp giggled as she saw the group. Ashley looked up, glaring at her.

"What do you want, Midna?" Ashley said, her glare not changing. Midna giggled once more, ignoring her. Roy looked at Ashley, his expression very puzzled.

"Isn't this person from Link's world? How do you know her?" He asked, Ashley turning to him.

"Whenever I get bored, I scan the surrounding area for any magical creatures, or sources of magic. It's not like YOU people ever do anything amusing."

Roy glared at her as she continued -

"I came across Midna a few weeks ago, but I ignored it … She isn't magical at all, just ugly." Ashley said, Midna flying closer to the Witch and sticking her tongue out.

"Oh, what do YOU know!" Midna said, turning back to Roy and Toon Zelda. "Everyone's gone, and this is the perfect chance to get revenge." She said, Toon Zelda stepping up to object.

"But that's not nice, and it's not their fault that we didn't get in-" Roy placed and arm in front of her, silencing the girl.

"No, she's got a good point - Besides, we could use the fun."

---

Okay, so Roy wants to wreck the mansion, and Toon Link is acting suspicious? What shall happen to our heroes next?

I couldn't get this through peoples' heads at another forum, so I will explain: YOUNG Link beat up TOON Link and stole his clothes to be amongst the fighters. TOON Link is actually YOUNG Link in disguise. The real TOON Link is knocked out somewhere.

I HOPE that made sense.

Well, that was good. I liked it. You should put more into Mewtwo. He wan't that good in Melee, but he wasn't a clone and there's no reason not to just make him better.

Incorrect grammar bugs me, however (character flaw, I know). So you may or may not care, but here's your grammar lesson for the day:

When ending a quotation, it does not end then sentance. Thus, the next word is not capitalized, yada yada, here's an example:

"Ashley, please! He isn't worth it!" the little Devil said...
NOT "Ashley, please! He isn't worth it!" The little Devil said...

Also, if you end the quote with a period, it turns into a comma for some silly reason.

"That's some hit," Young Link blinked...
NOT "That's some hit." Young Link blinked...

I doubt many people would care that much, but just in case you do, taht's how it is. There are some exeptions, though, like in "'He's said it before Ashley, no means no.' Roy looked up..." The period is correct becasue the "Roy looked up" part is the start of a new sentance. But for the he said/she said this pretty much always applyes. English is a silly language, no? Great job, and keep writing!

I'm sorry, Thunda. I read your reply wrong and made it seem like you were being negative, not nicely suggesting things. I'm sorry about that, and thanks for the kind words.

Before I post this chapter, there's something I have to say: I was/am NOT a Genotard. I did NOT want him in Brawl, I just decided that I would branch out the character list and add in some that OTHER people wanted in the game.

--- Chapter Four: The Dusty Puppet ---

"Woo!"

Roy yelled happily as he ran throughout the mansion, slashing his sword around wildly. Vases, pictures, and various other objects hit the floor behind him, shattering, splitting in half, all breaking in some form or another. Midna followed him, laughing as she watched the boy cause so much chaos.

"This is fun! Where haven't we been yet?" Midna asked, giggling. Roy turned to her, pondering for a moment.

"Hm …"

… Meanwhile, on Brawl Beach …

"FALCON … SPLASH!"

Captain Falcon, Fox, and Ganondorf were all in the water, Falcon tossing water everywhere. Fox shook the water from his fur, getting Ganondorf soaked in the process. The Wizard glared at Fox, pouncing at him.

"I'll get you, you flea-bag!"

On the other side of the beach, things were much less frantic - Peach, Zelda, and Samus were sunbathing. Popo, Nana, Pikachu and Squirtle were building sandcastles. Wario was scarfing down food from the grill Mario was cooking on. Toon Link was … Plotting their downfall?

(Remember, Toon = Young for right now.)

"Yes, enjoy your little beach party now, fighters … Soon, Young Link will DEFEAT YOU ALL!" He cackled, causing everyone to turn and stare at him. Toon Link smiled, quickly walking away. Everyone shrugged, returning to their activities.

… Meanwhile, at Brawl Manor …

"The attic! Nice choice!" Midna exclaimed as Roy pushed open a dusty, wooden door. As he stepped inside, his leg was grabbed by a small hand. He looked down, seeing Red looking concerned.

"This isn't a good idea, what if you break something that's really old? Master Hand will be really mad at us!" He said, looking at Roy. The boy smiled, patting the Devil's head.

"Calm down Red, I'm sure everything will be fine. Besides, we deserve some fun time, right?" As soon as he said this, a shadow dashed across the room. Red quickly jumped into Roy's arms, looking around. "What's wrong with you?" Roy asked, dropping him. Red hit the ground with a loud THUMP, quickly standing and rubbing his head.

"I thought I saw something … It must've been a mouse, that's all." The shadow zipped past them again - Both Roy and Midna noticed this time. Midna quickly flew around, stopping to turn to the boys.

"I've found it! … It looks old and forgotten."

As Roy stepped closer, he saw it was a doll - It had a blue cape, and some kind of orange curl coming from the blue hat on its head. The doll was covered in dust, like it hadn't been touched for years. Its eyes were staring right into Roy's, only they were lifeless - It was like the thing was staring into Roy's soul. Roy turned to Red, who was studying the object.

"It looks like … A really old puppet. But there was definitely some kind of magic in this thing at some point." He said, looking up at Roy. "Poke it."

"Excuse me?" Roy asked, his eyes widening. Red nodded, pointing at Roy's sword that the boy still held from the previous mansion-destruction.

"Your sword, poke this thing. I wanna see if there's still anything inside." Red said, Roy nodding and giving the puppet a quick tap. A spider quickly scurried from its eye, making its way up the wall and into a hole. Red shrugged, sighing.

"Oh well, whatever source of magic was in there, it's long gone by now." He said, turning and making his way to the door. Roy and Midna followed, Midna keeping an eye on the puppet as they reached the door. As the three began to exit, a low voice rang out around the room.

"Do not leave me in here."

Roy turned around, looking around for the source of that voice. Seeing nothing, he shrugged and turned back around, grabbing the doorknob.

"Do not leave in me in here, or I will surely perish."

The voice surrounded the three again, Red quickly scurrying over to the puppet. Studying it once more, he turned to Roy and nodded.

"Yup, there's definitely some kind of power in this thing. I'm taking it downstairs, I'm sure Ashley could figure this out." Red grabbed the puppet's wooden hand, dragging it downstairs behind Midna and Roy. As Roy closed the door behind them, Ashley appeared at the foot of the stairs.

"You idiot. You just have to keep attracting magic, don't you?" She said, glaring at Roy. Roy looked confused as he made his way downstairs, Red following.

"Ashley, we found a puppet in the attic, and I'm pretty sure it has a spirit or something inside. What is it?" Red asked, Ashley turning and walking away.

"Come on, let's go. I'm sure I can figure this out." She said, Red shrugging and following while dragging the dummy behind him. Roy and Midna exchanged confused looks as they ran after Ashley, interested in what power the puppet hid within. Ashley turned around, causing them to stop in mid-run.

"Please don't bother me. I'll tell you when I've figured this out." She said, making her way downstairs and into another room, Red still following with the puppet behind. Just as Red had exited, Roy looked down at the puppet … And it blinked?

No, puppets can't blink … Right?

---

Very short. Trust me, you'll love the next one ... I hope. >_>

I only want commentary on the story itself, by the way. I know I have too many grammar problems now ... ._.;

Okay, no grammar comments it is, then. Here's my character recomendations instead: the Custom Robo (only the greatest non-smash multiplayer game ever) and basicly the entire cast from Golden Sun (the greatest RPG ever)

And if you haven't played those games, stop everything and go do that now. ^.^
