Super sensitive controls

For a while, I've noticed that if I do a side B by flicking the D-Stick, every now and then it would launch in the opposite direction.
Annoying as that was, I later found out that if I let go the D-stick (say, if I'm running left and want to stop immediately, I'll let go of the stick and it flicks back to the center) the character will turn around and face the other way.
Its done this on my Smash edition GC controller and on my Wii U game pad. Not every time, but often enough to annoy.
I couldn't get it to do it on my old GC controller, but my friend who uses it the most says it happens to him every now and then as well (shooting the a side B in the opposite direction than intended).
It might be cuz its older and this is why it rarely happens, idk.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I've done neutral attacks and have had my character turn around randomly. Not sure what causes it but it's insanely annoying. It happens with any controller as well, Pro Controller, Gamepad, Wiimote.

I get this sometimes too. It did it on the 3DS, I blamed the silly circle pad for it because of it's sensitivity. But now that i'm getting it with the GC, Pro controller and iNintenpad I don't really know what to think.. Either blame it on the game or get a new pair of hands. DECISIONS!

I blame the game. Its been buggy since release. The intro skips sometimes. The audio stutters when coming back from matches sometimes. The D stick locks when the C stick is held. And now this.
And these are all things that happen to other people, so I know its not my wii u.

Like, neutral attacks even tho you're holding the directional stick in a direction?

This is most likely caused by small dead zones on sticks, most common on banged up controllers, but new ones can do it too. After flicking your stick in one direction it flicks back to neutral position. Sometimes it can flick back so hard that it goes passed the neutral position and input the opposite direction for a brief moment. It would be much easier to see this if you could see your input (you can connect your controllers to the PC with some drivers now I think).

I have never come across this issue using a GC controller, but I personally never "flick" the stick so this wouldn't apply to me as much. I have had this happen to me on a PS3 controller though.

Turning around when you don't want to in a game of Dark Souls is like Up-B'ing the wrong way :[

I have a hori battle pad and recently switched over to the Wii U gamepad. I had the flicking issue where I would turn around while running and having my character to a pivot when I didn't want to. It is almost impossible to walk, I have to move the analog stick extremely gently if not my character will dash. I actually got used to the gamepad and now want to get a pro controller.

It happens more frequently in our new controllers like Smash GC controller and Wii U gamepad. Couldn't get it to happen on my old GC controller

I think they mean playing as :4falcon:for example, facing right, hitting B without a direction, and having a Falcon Punch to the left come out.
Oh. I thought he meant like he'd be holding the stick in a direction, but it'd be registering as a neutral.
but rereadind it, yeah, i see what he meant.

I have the opposite problem where I will accidentally do a tilt instead of a smash since I'm not moving the control stick hard enough. Your issue sounds more like a controller problem though.

Just tried it on a wii u pro controller and it happens on that one too, but not on my wii classic controller. This is weird. You'd think itd only happen on my old controllers.

I've wasted fully charged Samus shots this way. :c

It's possible that over time as controllers get more use that the deadzones on the sticks can increase in size. This is generally considered a "bad" thing, but for this particular situation it has its advantages (as long as you can still reliably turn and make minor movements of course).
