Games Done Quick has started for the week. For anyone that doesn't know, it's an event where speedrunners all over come and stream. It's a charity event where donations all go towards Doctors Without Borders. Incentive to bid is to get a shoutout/comment, vote for attempted challenges, win prizes, and of course go towards a good cause.

Great cause and very fun to watch... good luck with your event.
Not my event, but definitely a great cause. Just wanted to get more involvement for Light House by creating discussion threads like these.

Again, one of the games I'm looking forward to most is the Super Metroid race.

I'm definitely gonna tune in for the MMX8 and MM3D block. I want to do a $25 donation incentive for NOUFozzy to do the 5 jump slash kill on Majora's Wrath, but alas I lack a Paypal account.
Btw, I discovered that trick along with the Turtle Skip in A Link Between Worlds, so yeah, BRAGGING RIGHTS. :younglinkmelee:

You a runner, or a hyper obsessive glitch hunter like alderio?

Been watching since it started. So hype (Except the fool Gamepro11 who ran Crash Bandicoot 2, he needs to be banned from future GDQ events). Good runner, just tries to hard to be funny in a way that it makes people very uncomfortable. Outside of that though, really enjoying the run! Made my donations so far, with more to come. Love GDQs! Hope to make it out there one day soon.

I saw Twitter blowing up a bit during the Crash Bandicoot 2 segment. I didn't tune in during it though, so I missed it.

So what happened during the crash bandicoot run, other than the runner being a bit cringey?
He was super unfunny, loud, obnoxious, sometimes creepy, would never ever shut up, etc. Compared running Crash Bandicoot 2 to domestic abuse. That kind of thing.

Oh, and he didn't even finish the game.

All-in-all, fantastic run.

I just checked the last 10 minutes of the archive of that run. Wow... that was awful and extremely awkward.

I didn't think the Crash Bandicoot 2 run was that bad. I really think most people are overreacting to what he did, other than softlock his own run. That was probably the only thing bad about him.

Sure, he wouldn't keep quiet at times, but what else is one to do when they don't know what to talk about in front of thousands of people? He has to keep people entertained to keep the donations flowing. You gotta think of how nerve-wracking it is just to get up on that stage and run games in front of thousands of people. At least respect the guy for pulling off what he did, as I'm sure very few of you could do so or better with so much pressure on your shoulders.

Also, I'm super hyped for the blindfolded Pokemon Blue and Earthbound runs.

EDIT:

Went back and watched it again. Wow. I can't believe I missed so much stuff. I guess I was half-awake half-asleep my first viewing.

Generally runners let the announcer read donation notes whenever there's any downtime in the run, which is probably more entertaining than hearing gross and/or creepy noises in your ears.

I get that he was probably nervous. He seems considerably less obnoxious in his regular streams, after watching some of his YouTube clips. However, if you're going to be signing yourself up for an event as popular as SGDQ, you'd better be prepared for the kind of viewership you're going to be pulling in. Should probably make a note to hold off on the mass murder jokes when you're at an event focused around a humanitarian organization, too.

Well.

Carry on, then.

not the smartest choice for a runner in an event dedicated to saving lives, not, y'know, suicide.

And yeah, blindfold runs are always hype

I watched AGDQ15 live, but found it boring compared to other years. I think for SGDQ15 I'll just wait for the YouTube uploads.

At least we got a new Chibi in the form of that Crash Bandicoot 2 runner, though.
