Sudden death vs. Computer. Why?

Hello. I have a question: Why is it that every now and then the Computer will KO me with a red screen that targets my character and shoots them off the screen? I'm aware that it can be dodged however my success rate in doing so so far has been frustratingly low. The last Smash Bros game that I played was the original N64 one and I don't recall anything like this in that.

1.) What is it called?
2.) What triggers it?
3.) How can you consistently avoid it?

Oh, and 1 more question: Can human players perform this red screen attack or is it just something that the Computer can do?

This sounds like a Duck Hunt type of issue, since that duo is the only one to have an aiming target be used.

*Bump* It's not just Duck Hunt Dog that does it, though. It doesn't matter who the computer's character is and the computer will do this instant KO attack maybe once every couple of matches in Classic Mode on difficulty 7.

Is it the dragon parts that the Npc might have collected? It turns the screen to a huge red target aim and KO at very early %

Perhaps you're dealing with the Dragoon? Odd, since you can't immediately use it to start a match.

Yes, maybe it's the dragon pieces that the computer always seems to get to before me. What's the deal with the dragon pieces?

If you check the bottom screen, you can periodically see who has the pieces of the dragoon and/or daybreak cannon after they pick up each piece which is its own item.

If you see a piece of either, i recommend you pick it up so that they can't complete it. You can use either of these weapons if you collect all the pieces.

If they get the daybreak cannon, go behind or above them to avoid the laser.

If they get the Dragoon (red screen reticule) do your best to jump and air dodge when they bring the reticule to you, as they almost always immediately strike when they get you in their sights.

if you want to practice this, turn off all items but dragoon pieces and play some vs matches with only them on.



Tl;dr: Dragoon (the red screen attack) is an item that activates when you get all 3 pieces, don't let them do that.
