Stupid Fox Shine

Well this is my first post so I'll try and not sound ********. My friend and I have been playing SSBM for the last 6 months with great intensity and I am slowly but surely mastering Falco. The big problem I have been having lately though is he has figured out Fox's shine is a semi spike that will screw up your recovery time if you are off the edge and I was used to side+b (sprint or whatever its called) to spike him down but now that he uses his shine I have found it difficult to figure out how to avoid him coming after me. Is this just one of those fates I have to learn to deal with or does anyone know a decent way to overcome this obvious disadvantage? I appreciate any feed back, so long as it doesn't make me stupid. Thanks.

Or you could jump in close to the stage and if he tries to drop downa nd shine spike you you can tech the wall and get back to the stage.

Watch how he approaches you when you're off the stage. You'll eventually learn patterns of avoiding shine spikes. For instance, delay your Up B, sweet spot the edge, air dodge, etc.

umm he jumps higher...? that doesn't have to do with too much. When you are off the edge you either have 1 jump left or no jumps left. Anyways, if you find one way of recovering that always gets you back then keep using it. If he starts to catch on then vary it up. I like using up b the most because over b has only one path.
