Streaming Smash via Elgato?

Hello Smash Brethren,

So I'm planning on live streaming a bit o' Smash for an upcoming tournament (Brawl, Melee, and PM) and I wanted to use my new Elgato game capture HD. I know it can record old school consoles and such, but to record it I'd have to plug the Wii/GC into the Elgato and the Elgato in to the TV via an HDMI cable. Obviously most people use CRT TVs because LCD ones have lag, but will it lag if it's plugged into the Elgato with normal AV cables?

I've tried it out a few times and I don't notice anything too laggy about the gameplay, but I didn't know if anyone had any first hand experience with streaming Smash with an Elgato and could tell me if there is indeed an issue with using one.

Thanks!

I've never had to use a wacky setup like that but the elgato does indeed kick ass. If you're not noticing any issues it's probably fine

The Elgato itself will add no lag at all, however using composite cables with it on a HDMI TV might. I use a Wii with a HDMI adapter, so my setup is two HDMI cords with the Elgato and a HD TV. There's no lag, but when I try the same set up with composite cables for the input, there is a slight amount
