Strange Yoshi Momentum Effect

I had this up on the tactics board for a bit but I don't think many people payed it much attention.

While in the air if you press B and jump at the same time, Yoshi quickly moves downward while doing his B move rather than doing his regular double jump. The same thing happens if you throw an item and jump at the same time as well. I don't play Yoshi so I don't really know how you guys can make use of this. Maybe a really weird jump to pivot egg lay for some mindgames or something. It looks really similar to DJC from melee but you can only do it with neutral B and thrown items sadly. Anyways I thought you guys should know about it.

Yep its a DJC. ONly his b moves cancel his double jump in this game unfortunately, but DJC egg lay can be useful for stuff, apperantly for approaches (i dont use it much, but thats what people say).

No burntsocks it's not the same thing as DJC. If you do your second jump and then press B Yoshi's momentum stops and you do the attack where you pressed the B button. If you do your second jump and press B at the same time he actually moves downward at the same time. It looks like you fast falled while doing your neutral B which isn't possible except by doing this. You can only do this with Yoshi's neutral B and by throwing items.

Yoshi's double jump actually moves him downwards during the first couple of frames, so cancelling it there could result in the observed effect. You could do the same with all aerial attacks in Melee. Telling if that is what is happening is kinda hard since all his other special moves have their own momentum change, it would make sense though.

Could be. The input is pretty much the same as Lucas's zap jump which is just as odd.
