Stopping the Death of the C-Stick?

Hey all. In the past year, I've gone through two controllers that eventually ended up having next to unresponsive C-sticks. In Smash 4, I use my C-stick for tilts, and it's an extremely big part of my game. I need my C-stick to always, y'know, work. That being said, do I have to continually buy new controllers? Are there higher quality parts I can install into a controller? Am I just unlucky?
