Hey guys my friends are hosting a SMASH 64 ONLY Tournament at the end of December. I (dookdigity) am not hosting, so don't PM your questions, just type them here on the public forum. I will be there and it should be fun. They asked me to post this for them:::::-----

**RULES**
- Each 1v1 game is Best 2 of 3
- $10 Buy-in
- Double Elimination
- 5 Stock
- No Items

1st - 55%
2nd - 25%
3rd - 15%

*2v2 Random Partner teams are "random but equal". Teams will be randomly chosen but if a team is "stacked" they will be split up so that all teams are equal in skill level

There will be money match games constantly going on the side. ANYONE can challenge ANYONE for money no matter what skill level! so... BRING LOTS OF CASH!

at LEAST 3 TVs with SMASH!!!

I still need to ask them if Team Attack will be on or off for doubles. If you have a 64 and a TV please bring them, the more we have the smoother the tournament will run. Should be fun fun fun!

yes best 2 of 3 no items and the house is right by the 60 and right between the i-10 and L-101 so it should be a fast commute no matter where you're coming from

dangit, this is exactly what i've been dying to go to. Is there any chance that anybody from colorado or western utah is going? cause i have a suspended license, so i'd need to catch a ride.

I'd love to come and get owned, but Christmas obligations may very likely take precedence.

Also, when you say "level of choice", does that imply that there are no banned stages?

smash god do you have a facebook? if so add me and i think i could hook you up with a ride possibly, my friends are coming back home from UC Boulder for christmas/the tournament.

and team attack, as of now its going to be off but i'm starting to lean towards turning it on. I am just trying to get as many players as possible and as big a $$$ pot as possible and im afraid if i turn it on a lot of people would get angry and NOT play.

and level of choice means both parties have to agree on the level before playing the match

Southeast Tucson. Haha. Just getting across Tucson with the current 1-10 construction there is awfully congested. But I love 64 too much so I may just have to go no matter what it takes.

I doubt team attack off would scare people away. I think it would do more of the opposite, since I believe more people are accustomed to team attack on.

I also advice on trying to get more set-ups. I'll probably bring one if I go.

and about the scheduling, the tournament was originally set for december 20th but i heard there was a big melee tournament in cali that weekend and some friends were going to that so this is the best day i could do it really

The random teams seem kind of unfair for those who are good.

making the tournament a 'choose your partner' would screw up the tournament, instead of having over 20 teams and a $200+ pot, there would probably be only 5 or 6 teams that would actually play in the choose your own partner tournament. if you're good enough you should be able to carry your teammate's weight and win regardless, because, after all, your opponents have the same disadvantage as you do. we have these styles of tournaments all the time and the best players do win.

and there will be several people, including me, money matching at the tournament for at least $5 a game (or $5 a stock)

I'm not going to this as I suck huge balls at 64 and have never played more than 10 times, but I just want to say that random teams is such a good idea. I think I might even start doing that if I host any tourneys. It's true that regular teams does discourage some people from participating and does give unfair advantages to people, especially when the best people always team up with each other.
Kosuke: I'm sure everyone's skill level will be based off the singles results to determine whether the teams are fair or not.

now there are 3 tournaments:

1v1 (2pm $10 buy-in)

2v2 choose partner (2pm $10 buy-in) (play in both at same time)

2v2 random partner (4pm $5 buy-in)

PLUS money match games constantly going on the side(challenge any person for a minimum of $5, 1v1 5 stock)
