Hey guys! This is my first post on the Smash Boards and was just wondering how to get into a more competitive side of Yugioh. My buddies and I want to start going around local tournaments and heading to places that host them. I'm still stuck on 5D's and don't really grasp the concept of Number and Pendulum Monsters but I'm a quick learner.

I run a Gravekeeper's Deck so I'll just list what's in it and would y'all mind giving tips and analysis? It's a work in progress and I know I'm still missing some valuable cards plus cards in here that shouldn't be but only are in place of ones I don't have. Here we go!

Monsters

3x Gravekeeper's Spy
2x Gravekeeper's Commandant
1x Gravekeeper's Descendant
2x Gravekeeper's Assailant
1x Gravekeeper's Spear Soldier
2x Gravekeeper's Guard
1x Gravekeeper's Visionary
1x Breaker the Magical Warrior
1x Tsukuyomi
1x Neo Spacian Grand Mole
1x Mobius the Frost Monarch

Spells

3x Necrovalley
2x Royal Tribute
1x Gravekeeper's Stele
1x Book of Moon
1x Pot of Duality
1x Heavy Storm
2x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Allure of Darkness
1x Magical Dimension
1x Snatch Steal
1x Gravekeeper's Servant

Traps

2x Mirror Force
2x Bottomless Trap Hole
2x Rite of Spirit
1x Magic Cylinder
1x Magician's Circle
1x Acid Trap Hole
1x Dust Tornado
1x Torrential Tribute
1x Judgement of Anubis
1x Compulsion Evacuation Device

And that is all for now. I'm aware of Forbidden and Limited cards but this is just a casual player heading into competitive. Thanks guys!

Pendulums aren't even a thing you need to worry about unless you plan on playing Qliphort or Yosenju. What you really need to worry about is getting a grasp on XYZ monsters, which have been a big part of the meta ever since the start of gen 4.

Gravekeepers can make for a decent anti-meta deck if played correctly since Necrovalley shuts down many, many decks. That being said, that deck of yours is horribly dated and will need to be adjusted in accordance to the current ban list if you wanna play competitive. I've never really cared for playing that deck so I don't know its ins and outs, but I can tell you right now that you're making a big mistake by not running Terraforming. Not to mention cards like Acid Trap Hole and Judgement of Anubis are too gimmicky for their own good and can be axed for cards like Solemn Warning or MST. Also, if you want to keep Magician's Circle in you're going to want to board that. If you're playing against certain decks you're pretty much giving your opponent free field presence.

Anyway, light house is primarily for video games. We have a YGO thread floating around somewhere in the pool room. I can't seem to find it though, so I'll just link you to the room: http://smashboards.com/forums/pool-room.10/

And with that, I welcome you to the world of competitive YGO.

EDIT: Also, here's the currently forbidden/limited list: http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/limited/index.html

Thanks @ finalark finalark , I think I'll just move thread to Pool Room to just generate more (new) discussion. The old YGO thread might be too old. And if it isn't, another person can just link them to it if it's still used.
