Seeing as the character appears to be exerting themselves more on the dash grab I was wondering if the dash grab had a longer grab range than the standing grab. I was just curious because I wanted to see if there might be a situation in which using a regular dash grab over a JC grab is a good idea. I'm sure if I looked at the frame data I could get an answer but I wanted to see what the community said first. Thanks!

1 example where dash grab is preferred over JC grab is when Peach chain throws a fast faller. She moves farther forward when she dash grabs, giving her more reach. Her standing and running grab activate on the same frames (6 and 7). Also, I think that when JC grabbing, your character spends at least 1 frame in the jump animation. Regular dash grabbing makes it easier for her

For Marth dash grab travels further than the JC one will; effectively allowing to grab faster, if you still to move towards them.
Keep in mind the range needs to be put to use for there to be any point, and it will leave you more vulnerable afterwards.

Is there a list showing which characters have a longer dash grab than JC grab range? This is the first I'm hearing about dash grabs ever being more effective. Is this situational though? Like if Marth's JC grab is shorter but still quicker (in terms of when the grabboxes become active), it would still be better for chaingrabbing spacies at low %s right?

I know Peach's simply from experience. Idk if there's a list. You could try looking at their hit boxes to compare standing's vs dash's reach

Peach's dash grab is pretty much always better than her JC grab. It reaches farther and doesn't have a frame delay. She doesn't run very fast and doesn't slide very far

I think dash grabs are better mostly for just range, so it's a good mixup maybe, as long as you hit it.
Everything is a good mixup as long as you hit with it. I think dash grabs are better depending on the character and probably situation

as pikachu, an effect I've had is whiffing a grab and then rolling far enough away from my opponent that their punish misses, where they would have hit me if I didn't miss the JC. I'm positive that this would never be useful to learn, but it's accidentally worked out for me in the past

I know Falcon has some pretty crazy back grab from his dash grab, but it doesn't help much in front of him.
