Thanks a lot for all the info way more info than I planned on getting. Really appreciate you taking the time to write thisStages are mostly picked in relation to match-ups, but can also be comfort picks.
It's best if you know why a stage is good for the match-up so you can take advantage- rather than trusting that it's good for you.
Battlefield's and Yoshi's platforms help your pillar combos.
Dreamland and Final Destination give you more room to lock-down your opponent with lasers.
Pokemon Stadium and Yoshi's have low ceilings for killing floaties off the top, while Fountain of dreams and Dreamland have the highest ceilings.
If this doesn't help imagine playing against Marth:
If you want to keep his grabs at bay you should laser a lot, but you shouldn't go Final Destination as he'll chain-grab you.
You can then consider Pokemon which has a low ceiling or Dreamland which has a high ceiling, but the platforms are higher so his tilts don't cover them completely.
If you're comfortable fighting him close up then you can also go to Yoshi's as it has platforms to help your combos and a low ceiling.
This means you can shine/fire-bird him off the top in a combo and the platforms prevent chain-grabs, however his sword covers a huge portion of the stage constantly.
When you counter-pick your opponent just think about their character and your own play style, you can win or lose anywhere tbh but it's important to know how the stage affects the match.
wow that was a great read thanks a lot man :D really appreciate itA lot of Falcos hate Fountain of Dreams because it can limit your laser ability but the platforms allow you to do BEAUTIFUL combos. You can use the platforms like battlefield/yoshis when they are kinda at the middle height. When they are low enough to sh onto, you can rack up insane dair combos by doing drop through dair -> rising dair -> drop through dair.....until they escape. When the platforms are high, you can actually sh upair someone repeatedly until you miss their tech. The other info post is really good too It takes practice but if you can learn to do those, this stage becomes really really good for falco too.
No problem, I forgot to mention it but try not to take a peach or sheik here unless you are extremely confident in your ability to outplay them. Peach's dsmash destroys on this stage and sheik isn't as bad but you can wreck her a lot better on other stages. I mainly like this against falcon and fox because they are super easy to combo and (falcon loses a lot on this stage)wow that was a great read thanks a lot man :D really appreciate it
Would suck if you forgot to mention that haha thanks so much dude! My friend is main shiek so great heads up Im loving all the advice. How does falco outplay someone? Is there a specific pro I should watch, atm my favorite is Wes balls :]No problem, I forgot to mention it but try not to take a peach or sheik here unless you are extremely confident in your ability to outplay them. Nice man. Well thanks for all the help. Gotta practice this FOD combo; 0Well I mean outplay in a general sense, if you can get all those awesome fountain combos and stuff while avoiding the stuff that peach/sheik can do on that stage. My favorite falco is ppmd I actually got to play with him in my first tournament and he inspired me to choose falco.
