The purpose of this thread is to have a location on Smashboards for my Smash 4 stage analysis videos. For those who aren't aware, ParanoidDrone ParanoidDrone has made numerous threads giving details on all of the stages in Smash 4 whether they are considered legal or not. Inspired by his work and interested in labbing and contributing to the Smash community myself, I decided to start making videos explaining the details of all of the stages. The reason for this is that not everyone learns best through reading so I wish to present the information Mr. Drone has provided and sometimes more in a different format.

Here are the current videos I have done:
Battlefield https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL6d8ntXCZE
Miiverse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp0VpDG6CJw

The list is not very big at the moment and this project is currently on a small hiatus since other projects are a higher priority to me at the moment but rest assured, this project is not dead.

I have roughly ordered which stages will have videos made for them from first to last in 5 categories: Unquestionably legal, debatably legal, possibly legal, not legal and a middle ground between the last two. Here are the stages that fall under each category:
Unquestionably legal:
Battlefield
Miiverse
Final Destination and Omegas
Dreamland 64
Smashville
Town and City
Lylat Cruise
Duck Hunt

Debatably legal:
Kongo Jungle 64
Halberd
Castle Siege
Delfino Plaza

Possibly legal:
Big Battlefield
Mushroom Kingdom U
Mario Circuit
Luigi's Mansion
Skyloft
Wuhu Island
Windy Hill Zone
Peach's Castle 64

Between possibly legal and not legal:
Mario Galaxy
Norfair
Port Town Aero Dive
Woolly World
Orbital Gate Assault
Kalos Pokemon League
Pokemon Stadium 2
Coliseum
Gamer
Garden of Hope
Wii Fit Studio
Wily Castle
Hyrule Castle 64
Super Mario Maker
Pirate Ship

Not legal:
Mario Circuit (Brawl)
Jungle Hijinks
Bridge of Eldin
Temple
Pyrosphere
Yoshi's Island (Melee)
The Great Cave Offensive
Onett
Flat Zone X
Palutena's Temple
Skyworld
Boxing Ring
Gaur Plain
75 m
Wrecking Crew
Pilotwings
PAC-LAND
Suzaku Castle
and most likely Midgar
Note that these placings are not the definite order but just a general idea of how the videos will be handled. All stages will be covered in the unquestionably legal group before I move on to the debatably legal stages and so on and so forth. Also note that the placings of the stages are based on my opinion of the stages from what I've seen myself and read from other users. For example, I don't think Wily Castle should be legal personally but it has more going for it than the likes of Temple and as such will be covered before Temple.

If you think a stage should be moved to a higher or lower priority group, feel free to say so and give as many reasons as you can.

Last few things to say. I currently only have plans to cover the Wii U stages since the Wii U version is played more often competitively, I have an HD capture card while I don't have a 3DS capture card and I lack the 3DS version of the game. If there is enough demand for the 3DS stages to be covered, I may invest in a 3DS capture card to cover the stages on that version. As for the next stage, it is definitely being Dreamland 64 but after that I'll leave it up to the preference of others so long as the stage requested is in the group I'm currently covering. If no preference is given then my own preference will decide. I'll probably add pictures for visual flare later on so this isn't just a block of text. If there are any interesting quirks about a stage you want to be covered in a video, please let me know. An example is that I plan on showing Sheik's easy uair kill combo on the wind portion of Pokemon Stadium 2.

TL;DR I'm making stage analysis videos for every stage in the Wii U version of Smash 4.

Hilariously, Duck Hunt was banned at a small local I attended recently.
The names of the groups is mostly just for simplicity rather than naming them something like groups 1 through 5.

As for the local, did the TO have an explanation as to why Duck Hunt was banned? Was it just a small stage list or was there a particular reason given?

I don't know what the reason was. The ruleset was straight Apex with the exception of the stages, where they swapped out Duck Hunt for Dream Land.

Duck Hunt is probably a stage that should have it's merits and shortcomings discussed rather than one group saying "obviously legal" and another group saying "obviously degenerate" "doesn't add anything" "too polarising" etc.

Ulevo Ulevo please consider adding Duck Hunt to the OP of your new stage discussion thread.

Is there really a reason to though. I mean, the reason Castle Siege, Halberd and Delfino are up there is because they are the ones that have remained legal since the games release and are just recently beginning to be phased out at certain majors. Duck Hunt on a whole is not being banned at tournaments, not the important ones anyway. And I fail to see a legitimate argument as to why it should be. The blast zones are reasonable, the stage is very straight forward. As long as you pay attention to the background, the dog should not pose as an unexpected interruption. The biggest concern on this stage is camping with the tree, and I have yet to see this play out in an actual tournament match unless the match up was bad (i.e. Little Mac versus anyone).

Update!: I finally finished the project that I prioritized over this one! Dreamland 64 shall be added to the op hopefully by early January at the latest! Apologies for the absence and slow process of this project but with the other project out of the way, this one should start to pick up steam!

Double post but whatever. Posting to answer where this project has gone to. The video and audio for the DL64 video has been recorded and ready for a while and I've just yet to put it altogether. Truth of the matter is, I'm lazy, incredibly so. Also been dabbling in other projects but mostly just laziness.

Is the project dead? No. It is however on hiatus until I feel motivated to continue it. Altogether, haven't been in much of a Smash mood. If anyone looks around, I've been socializing a lot but actually playing the game? No. Can't promise when I'll be motivated again but at the very least I should get some motivation when I start going to tournaments...next year.

Anyways, sorry for the inconvenience everyone! I still enjoy labbing and want to continue this project but I need motivation. I want to enjoy doing it, not feeling it to be a chore to just turn on a game.
