SSBB Menus sure look ALOT like kirby air ride!!!!

ok, when they first showed an example of the menu, it sort of looked like kirby air ride menus, but i thought it was a cooincidence. now, theyve announced a reward system with screenshots of it and it works EXACTLY THE SAME WAY! is this still a cooincidence, or is nintendo really doing this? and WHY? :dizzy:

Melee looked like Kirby Air Ride as well, they just made it synch more. Don't doubt Sakurai's originality, for those of us who haven't played Air Ride the challenge system sure is sweet.

Yeah, it does, and thats not a bad thing. If it only had movies on the right part of the screen we'd have an awesome Kirby Air Ride menu in Brawl.

I noticed this a long time ago, especially when they announced the menu music is the same thing (jk). And also,the update was a nice way for me to start a monday.

Yea, I like it too, Kirby air ride was fun. Also it is more exciting to complete the checklists than collect trophies, IMO.

QFT. Besides, I like the similar look. It gives a brighter tone for the Smash Bros series.

Similar indeed, and even if Sakurai did it with memories of Air Ride, he probably did it subconsciously,, he didn't just want to make it like Air ride, its his menu style, it's just how he does modern game menus.

I hate it when people start out their threads by apologizing if a similar one exists, but the searched and didn't find anything. People will complain either way, and it shows that you most likely didn't search for anything, like Mr. M pointed out.

Sakurai MADE Kirby...he invented KIRBY at age 19...this guy's a GENIUS!...not that Kirby was a genius game, thought it's very fun to play...but the fact that he created it at 19 years old....and made LOADS of money from Nintendo...

any way....It's not a coincidence. He made Kirby Air Ride...he made Brawl...same guy. He using some of his past works to use in Brawl. It works fine and makes sense....so why not?

Nintendo isn't making this game, SAKURAI is...with a staff of developers and programmers, engineers, etc. All under SAKURAI'S CONTROL...Sakurai makes the decisions of what goes and what stays. And he decided that the screens from Kirby Air Ride, and the Mission chart stays in Brawl. Dragoon stays in Brawl...Maybe even Hydra...

So there you go...an explanation. So let's close this topic, eh?

I also remember that in Kirby Air Ride, when you press start in the press start screen, the sound effect sounded almost the same than in Melee, only a bit higher.

But you could expect seeing a lot of Kirby elements, seeing as Sajurai is the creator of him, if you look at some Subspace Emissary videos, you will notice that it's a lot like Kirby, levels have doors at the end, there are those same things in the ground that makes you accelerate in Kirby Superstar, and the enemy characters look a lot like if they came out from a Kirby game.

Sakurai made Kirby. Like 30% of the content in brawl is kirby related.. so many items, 3 characters, few stages.. and now we have the kirby Air Ride menu. not surprised.
