There's going to be a monthly for all the smash games on Sunday, January 26th, 2014. 64 is going to be part of it. I say this is a good first tourney to test out our own personal monthlies for the Chicagoland area. If it goes well, we can figure out a different timeslot or just still be a part of the other games' monthlies.

I checked out the venue, and I'd say it's perfect for gathering up the smashers in the area. There's 9 or 10 CRTs, couches, chairs. You can bring your own food and drinks. It's really just a smash haven just outside of Chicago.

My weekends are packed always and forever and the transportation is TERRIBLE for me (worse than coming up to chicago from champaign, honestly), but hopefully I'll be able to make at least half of these. It does sound really dope.

hopefully all this expansion we're talking about comes through! I'm envisioning great things for the Illinois scene.

I'll help out with/help run these to the extent that I'm needed. We'd be doing these alongside the melee events, correct? Have we had a real talk with EXP about everything?

The event on the 26th has all the smash games as far as I'm aware. I think the last Sunday of every month is Smash monthlies. I wouldn't mind having our tourney alongside the others, but I personally would rather have it on another day so we can just have a 64-only event. When I went today, there were a couple Melee/PM players who watched my matches, but they didn't ask to play. That might be different if we had a lot more people, and like I said, I wouldn't mind having our tourney alongside theirs.

In terms of capacity, it ran something like an 88-man melee tourney. There were about 25-30 people there today, and it was not crowded at all.

Yeah there's pretty much no overlap between 64 and the other events in chicago AFAIK. None of us really play melee (I mean we dabble but eh) and none of the melee guys play 64

We should see what kind of attendance we're packing, and, more importantly, what kind of regular attendance we're packing. We might be getting ahead of ourselves; 6 man turnouts could still be the status quo.
