I remember that in a trailer ansylsis by Clash Torunaments is that when in the Wii U version of the trailer Mario used his up smash and Bowser used a power shield on it but when he did the recovery animation on the power shield was about 1 frame and so he hit Mario back much quicker. This is known as a parry and it was used in Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike. Could this mean that they will add features from other fighting games? Like having a assist charater from Marvel vs Capcom or multiple special moves like in Street Fighter 4? Write what you thing they should add from other fighting games.

Mm, I don't think that's particular foreign. Powershielding has always acted that way.

But on the topic, I think the exploration of air grabs would be really cool. I'm not sure how it would work out in practice for balance mind you.

I thought parrying is already a part of Smash Brothers. Powershielding negates hit stun allowing you to drop it and retaliate quicker. Major part of Yoshi's metagame, although it could just be a case of something with the same name.

When I was watching the thing at EVO that was on before Melee Top 8, it looked like for every battle you chose three characters instead of one. I think that would be an interesting mode for SSB, where you come back as a different character each time.

Agree with you about having air grabs but I think that only a few charaters should have it like Donkey Kong. But about power shielding is that in Melee and Brawl power shielding had few frames of recovery animation but in the trailer Boweser could act right when he ended the shield. But this could just be that it is just a trailer and the game is not fully complete.

Really? I thought that in the past power shielding was used to save shield time? I'll have to try that out.

This, IMO, would add so much depth to competitive level play. You could pick the same character for each stock. It could be a rotation, so if you had like 10 stock, it would rotate your 3 character selections, or even randomized. What would be even better is if tournaments would allow you to pick your characters in secret.

Great Idea!
