First of all, I think this is a very important thread if the material here hasn't been covered yet, because the issue is quickly approaching us.
Once both games are released, all TOs who plan on featuring SSB4 at their tournaments will have to make an important decision - 3DS or Wii U or both?
Here is a flow chart regarding the options:
3DS ---------> more people have system, game will have been out longer (could be important), does not require setups.
Wii U --------> people more familiar with controls, easier to spectate and stream, possibly the favorite.
-------> players can only enter one ----> one event will not be competitive because the top players will either split or all agree to do one.
Both-------
-------> players can enter both -----> both events will be dominated by the same players, more space/time required.
So, IMO, for a tournament like Apex 2015, 3DS only would be the way to go because the Wii U version will have been barely out, and space and time are crucial for a tournament that size. (I swear, if I hear the words "fire hazard" ever again...)
But what do you think? I feel like we at least must come to a consensus as a community, whichever option we choose.
