Personally, I hope there is no DLC; it's one of the largest issues plaguing game development and encourages the principle that it's ok to not finish your games. Everything should be available to everyone unless the payment is for something 100% optional (i.e. Not things that give players an advantage over another. Stages, characters etc.)

I think DLC is fine as long as it's used to add things to the game and not just put back in content that was cut for DLC (Think of something like New Super Luigi U).

I would like to see DLC characters and stages added, I think it would be a good way to add somewhat popular characters that couldn't get into the game because of production time.
(Plus I still want a Splatoon rep and there is no way that that is happening without DLC.)

A Spaltooon rep would be nice, but I don't think Sakurai would add new and unique fighters via DLC. I can see more Alternate Costumes for DLC (Maybe Roy for Lucina *shrugs*), but I just don't see Sakurai having new fighters as DLC (If he does do this because of time-constraints, i'm all for it though.). But don't fret, an Inkling may see the light that is the Smash Bros Roster some day.

I have a totally serious question OP.
This is a rare occasion, so feel free to celebrate the fact that I am being serious.

Leon Kennedy, Harry Mason, Aiden Pearce, etc.?

That is my question, interpret it as you will, and please answer before this topic is locked.

Edit for relevancy: I'm on board with all of this, but I think you forgot Master Chief, Shrek, and Goku.

I don't understand the DLC craze.
In most cases developers are selling you a purposely unfinished game just so they can sell the rest of it later on in chunks.
It's a cash grab and a cheap ploy to keep the game "relevant" for longer, which people complain about but always fall for.

I would much prefer a polished finish product then rushing it and filling it up later with content that was supposed to be in it.

Smash isn't a game that needs DLC in terms of characters. The selection already is vast and unique, and we still aren't done.
Sure older stages would be great, or at least offer the retro stages that appear in 3DS but not for the Wii U.

But Smash Bros. is a game that stands the test of time without adding additional content a few months afterwards. The excitement for the next instalments are the new characters, so it wouldn't make sense to exhaust all their efforts for Smash 4 and have no wow factors left for Smash 5.

There is so much to Smash Bros. games that take years to explore. The COD franchise is 100% a cash grab. They plop out the same game every single year with a few tweaks. They release DLC for maps that should have been in the launch throughout the year to keep people playing.

Smash Bros. isn't a game that you get bored of a month later. Only to play again for another few weeks because new stages are up for sale. There isn't a version every year, so Nintendo doesn't need any other cash grab ploy to keep people interested. This is the Smash Bros. game you're getting for this console generation.

What you buy is the final product and I am 100% okay with that.
The developers deserve a long deserved vacation after this, and then be freed up to work on other things.
