Cole here from Dropzone

Our company wants to build a competitive community in this area for several games and according to some surveys we got at our last event Smash is pretty well desired in this area. Smash has always been one of my favorite games since way back in the day when I would just spam thunderbolt on the helipad in Saffron City. So I was more than happy to find out you guys wanted more tournaments in this area. I have a few more questions though to help us make the best tournaments possible for you.

Why do you want to go to tournaments?

Small entry with small prizes? Larger entry with larger prizes?

Do you guys want Melee? Project M? 3ds?

What expectations do you have when it comes to a well run tournament?

Let us know.

Thanks!

I mostly go to tournaments to improve my skill level and hang out with friends. It is really cool to meet new people and experience their different play styles. It would be nice to eventually get good enough to win some as well. haha

I think alternating entry prizes would be cool. Possibly have it 5 dollars per event one time and then 10 the next tournament. If you do decide to do a high entry fee with larger prizes, I highly suggest you make the venue fee high and each individual event fairly low. An example would be, 15$ venue, 5$ per event, rather than 10$ venue, 10$ per event. This way people are not discouraged to compete in the other events and we have enough participants for each category.

Definitely Melee and Project M. I haven't really seen enough 3ds yet, but that's up in the air.

I mean I have only been to two tournaments so I can't really say what makes a great one. I think streaming events is important. I think someone with more experience would be able to help more on this question.

Thanks for asking and I look forward to these tournaments greatly!

Personally I would live to see tournaments of all the smashes: 64 melee, brawl, project m, 3ds, and later Wii u.
I would be fine with any sort of prizes and entry fee because I'm more in it for the community and meeting other smashers in the area. Hopefully this pans out and my brother and I would definitely show up.

Is there actually an active melee scene in Springfield?

I would like to join a Smash for Wii U tournament because me and my friend have been wanting to get into the competitive smash scene for a while. I would be fine with a $5 entry fee. When will it start, and how often will the event be?

I really would love getting more into competitive smash here. Springfield needs more.
