So I was just wondering how one would get sponsored by an esports team. Do the teams just message you one day out of nowhere? Or are there negotiations that take place for days? Then how do players on teams with just one player train?

A little clarification would be greatly appreciated.

My apologies in advance if this is in the wrong section.

First off, you will not get contacted by an Esports team unless you have consistent results. Some Esports teams will take notice of your results if you are a free agent and contact you for sponsorships, however a lot of players actually send resumes of their smash careers to these esports teams for sponsorship requests, so it can go both ways.

Also, esports teams that just have 1 or 2 players don't just train with players on their team. They play with other top players from all over. Many top players enjoy helping each other train and get better as it evolves the meta as a whole, though I know of a lot of players who don't like training with other top players to give them that edge when having to play in tournament.

Actually, Sponsorships can happen from multiple things depending on the Sponsor. Most of the time having a solid fanbase and a likeable personality is whats important. Results matter for sure but I believe its a secondary thing (firing shots at you ESAM).
