Do you like to have everything spoiled for you as far as characters go in these type of games or do you rather come in blind?

Once the leaks began flowing out during the Brawl times I couldn't stop myself from looking at them.

If Ridley is announced before release I might be able to, but either way I'm probably going to spoil the **** out of myself again. I don't really mind though, I like to have everything available asap anyways.

Smasboards suck
I don't mind spoilers. I can still enjoy the game. Brawl was spoiled for me and I didn't mind one bit.

I didn't know about these sites when I got Melee or Brawl so nothing was spoiled for me and most of everything was a nice surprise, but I check on many sites for interviews or any speck of information more than I should for Smash 4. I know I am going to spoil everything for myself.

I don't want any more character spoilers myself but I seem to be the odd one out in that category. I'm good with new stage, item, hell even play mode reveals just no more new characters I want to find who's in it on my own. I kinda wish they would do more with the website honestly post some gameplay videos, or have another page for the new stages and items etc.

I will try to not spoil the game aside from the news we get before actual release.

I hope the game gets out everyone on the same week at least though, waiting six months for Brawl was simply impossible.

If I see a character I want show up pre-release, then I'll stop following the game.

Otherwise spoil away.

I'll agree with you there a simultaneous release would be nice. When it first came out I held off on watching videos but I eventually caved I couldn't not watch them lol. Hell this is how bad I wanted to play it it was a week before Brawl was supposed to come out and I thought to myself I'll stop into blockbuster and rent a game to tide me over till Brawl comes out. I walked in there and started browsing the games got to the Wii section and what was staring me in the face but Brawl. Blockbuster had it a week early. And I rented it lol a week before I brought Brawl I rented it.

Tell me about it. Just watching the rest of the world having their fun with it, by the time we finally got it Brawl was already being torn apart by the Melee fanbase. It sucked that not only weren't we there to experience and find things along with the rest of the world, but when we finally got it the game was already old news. I hope this time we can be there and find all these things alongside everyone else, but I'm not holding my breath.

As a competitive player, post-release is going to be enough of a mental juggle working out what's good and what the best way to play is. I really don't need to layer extra roadblocks in the form of being surprised by what's in the game or taking longer than would otherwise be required to figure out how to unlock everything. I'll be making full use of all available online information throughout.

I like for everything to be spoiled. Lets me know what's in the game and helps me decide if I actually care about getting it. ¦D

Spoiled, so I can get hyped and or disappointed now rather than later.
Pretty much this quote.
I actually rather know what the whole roster is now rather than later so I can either get excited or disappointed now rather than later. It could actually build up some hype! I rather not be spoiled when it comes to other games, but I don't mind being spoiled for Smash.

I enjoy the spoils for Smash. I think it's exciting when they announce new characters/stages/etc. They do it right, by revealing things periodically instead of all at once.

I don't mind having to discover things like which stages are in the game, or whatever extras and unlockables are included. But when it comes to what characters are going to be in the game, I definitely want to know beforehand, that way I know whether the characters I'm used to playing as are gonna be in, or if they got cut and I should be prepared to start testing characters out.

I do not mind being spoiled about what characters, items, features a game will have etc.

The only thing I dislike seeing spoiled in games in general are levels, boss fights, game story, and for single player games, music. So, outside of an adverture mode of some type, I have no issue looking up info for Smash 4.

If the games come out worldwide then maybe.... (assuming nothing has been leaked yet)
If I have to wait six months after the rest of the world has it again, then yeah I'll look up those spoilers.

for games like smash bro's, as spoiler as spoiler can get. I actually HATE how there are hidden characters and stages in fighting games, and it's remains my firm belief that rosters should be completely unlocked from the get go!

So ****ing boring.
The last fighting game I've played which was like that is Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. That game was lifeless, nothing to do at all.

PASBR's problems lied in other things than having a fully unlocked roster on the get-go. It takes a day or two max to unlock everything in Smash Bros anyways, it's a cool thing once you get it, but having everything unlocked from the beginning would hardly be a disaster. Don't get me wrong though, I like unlockables, but they're only there the first few days.

Yeah sure PSABR sucked for a lot of other reasons, but one of its worst aspects were the unlockables. Basically nothing was worth it, it didn't even have an unlockable stage. And anyway I think Brawl requires a little more than two days to unlock everything...

Brawl required a run through SSE for all characters at least. Stages and especially music could take longer time, that's true.

Man, every time I tried, I could never bring myself to play all the way through the Subspace Emissary, it always bored me to tears. I just gradually unlocked the characters through Vs. matches.

As for the extra unlockables, like old music tracks, stages, and all the little goodies, I'd prefer them to take some time to unlock. Gonna be playing the game tons to build my skill, might as well have something to do in the meantime.

Any news that sakurai reveals himself via the site or nintendo directs I will see, but for the things that he intended not to be known until the games comes out I try my best to avoid

Definitely spoil. I'd say I understand the excitement of waiting to discover the new roster, but...I really don't understand it? To me, discovering the individual nuances of characters and their movesets is so much more substantial than discovering who they are. For that reason, I might limit the number of YouTube matches I watch after release, but certainly not hold back from discovering the final roster.

I will absolutely spoil myself immediately. I want to know the full roster as soon as humanly possible, as well as how to unlock every character and stage.

In my own case, I don't have a Wii U, and I don't particularly expect to have one by the time SM4SH comes out. Heck, I don't even have a Wii (but I do have Dolphin, and my cousin has Brawl, so...). So, since I figure I won't be able to play for a long time/ever, I don't care about spoiling myself on the game, especially since spoilers don't affect my enjoyment of it. And like others have said, I'd rather know if the characters I want are in or not sooner rather than later.
