Spike cancelling wall tech?

Okay, so I was playing smash for the 3ds today on for glory mode, Ganon vs. Falcon (me being ganon), on a stage which I can't remember but it had side walls all the way down, and in the middle of the match I was hit with a spike after trying to recover. I had already spent my jump and was hit after the ending of the up-b animation. Now this is where it gets weird: as I was plummeting down, real close to the stage, I did something and ganon stopped mid-fall and did what really looked like a wall jump.

It wasn't Ganon's flip jump which is his normal second jump and I had already used my second jump before the spike so it really seems that was not the case. An observation was that I gained height and then used my up-b again (but failed to recover still).

My current theory is that it was an accidental wall-tech which popped me up, but still, it canceled the spike. Can anyone confirm this? Am I really late on this?

Is there any way you could upload a video showing this, or did you not save a replay?

Inputting a jump during a tech gives you a wall tech jump. Sounds like you DI'd toward the wall while being spiked then wall tech jumped off of it. All characters can do this, even if they can't walljump normally.

For the OP's sake, I replicated it against a CPU to use as an example:

Thank you! That was exactly it! I did not save my replay but the only difference was that I fell a lot more down before the tech. But anyways, that's it!
