Anyone ever do Spectate Mode? There's a good reason to.

Gold is used for a lot of things. From Classic Mode to buying trophies, Trophy Rush, Crazy Orders, just a lot. It might be frustrating for those who don't have coins that need to do these things. Worry no more! Spectate Mode can, with a bit of perseverance and knowledge, turn your 3DS or GamePad battery life into gold!

For those who don't know, Spectate allows you to place bets on the winner of an online battle. Earnings are given out based on a multiplier. The multiplier ranges from 2.0 to 10.0 based on the win percentage of the player you vote for. You can start your bet at anywhere from 0 to 100 gold. Losing means you lose that gold. Winning means you gain the gold times the multiplier.

10.0 is usually seen when a player has a 0% win percentage. This could mean they're really bad. But it could also mean it's their first match, with 0 wins and 0 losses, meaning 0% wins. They could either be horrific or terrible and there's no way of knowing until you play. But the best bet is to bet 100 and vote for that player. Even if another player has a 100% win percentage, that could also mean they have 1 out of 1 wins.

I'll try wrapping this up. So if the 0% win player happens to win, which is likely, then with a bet of 100 you just increased your earnings tenfold. You now have 1,000.

This is where the big profit can come into play. When you bet correctly, you can use whatever money you won as your next bet. That means 1,000. And what happens if there's a 10x multiplier back on the board? That's right. 1,000 x 10 = 10,000. You can get 10,000 gold from watching two matches. It takes about five minutes to do that.

Now, you can keep going if you want. I'm not sure if there is a limit. The most I've gotten is 10,000, and I went for a x2 multiplier for 20,000 and it disconnected, just giving me the 10,000. I'm assuming because it lets you bet at 10,000, you could get a x10 multiplier and aim for 100,000 gold. I'm not entirely sure though.

Another good thing is you don't need to pay a single ounce of attention to the game while doing this.

I think I've typed way too much for something like this.

tldr; if you need gold, bet on people with 0% win rates constantly in Spectate.


EDIT: If you gain 20,000, it resets your betting streak and gives you the 20,000.

I'm pretty sure it gives you back your gold. I don't know about in the middle of a battle, though. I've gotten replays that would just crash mid-battle and I don't know about those either.

Let me take this a step further, as one night me and a couple of friends did this. I went from 800 coins to 100,000 in like 3 hours and it was a good time.

Because you explained spectate well enough, I'll just dive in. You get a group of people, but this can be done by yourself if you have a lot of time. However, it is ideal with at least another person or two since then you can collaborate and have fun.

Spectate is not actual live matches, just recorded ones that seem to change every day. However, within that day replays will repeat multiple times, as it seems it just grabs them out of a pool of 100+ matches randomly. So, you get your friends and open up titanpad, or a google doc or something and start recording the results of matches:

Just a fraction of the list, we had like 100 team battles and maybe 30 FFAs.

You can see where this is going. As you continue doing this, the odds of you not losing a bet only increases. Even if there is one battle in your set of 3 that you haven't yet recorded the outcome of, then the odds are 50/50 instead of being 0.50(3).

We would also mark down if the match was a x10 multiplier, so that if you wanted to you could just keep backing out until your first match is a 10x, and then hope for two other 10xs. I never managed it, but my friend did and made like 200,000 that night since he got 10x three times in one set for 100,000.

I kind of wanted to make a thread for this could be collaborated on even easier, and I think I will (or my buddy will).

That's a really good idea :o My first thought was "how do you even find the match," then I realized you put it in alphabetical order and I just facepalmed I think I'm going to try this out
