Special Moves of New Character #1

If you avoided the topic a few days ago when Sakurai revealed the first new character for ages, I’d avoid reading this one right now, as we’ve been given an update today with 2 of the Characters Special Moves. Read on if you dare!

<strong>Up-Special: Aether</strong>

This attack is kind of similar to Kirby’s Up-B, but is still very diferent.

First off, Ike throws up his sword, seemingly knocking up anyone who gets hit by his sword.

Then Ike leaps up, catches the sword and hits anyone airborn towards the ground, then falls down fast himself, similar to Kirby’s Up-B.

Of importance is this tasty nugget of information regarding all heavyweight characters.

<blockquote><strong>From Sakurai</strong>Of special importance is the fact that he is resistant to attacks for a moment right after throwing his sword. He’s not flinching?! He’s not really invincible—he still takes damage. But he won’t flinch in the slightest. This time, there are several moves like this among the heavy characters, so watch out!</blockquote>

Sounds like Bowser’s just gotten himself buffed a lot from Melee, where his strength wasn’t much of an advantage with his attacks slowness taking it’s toll.

<strong>Neutral Special Attack: Eruption</strong>

It looks cool, and can be charged up. What else do you need to know?

I’d like to know how long you can charge it, and if that’s the move fully charged.

hmm… he stabs his sword into the ground witch means its all magic… it has a long range so more charge probably more range so its not that much like roys… aether looks kind of useless unless you can change the angle… what do you think his down B is? his side B is probably some kind of some kind of magic stab… i have a habit of going off topic but what do you consider meta knights B moves are? sorry get back on topic.

he dont take any lateral distance?… and the Slash… ists seems to by a lacky recoveri move (if you were far but no down) unless do somting else if no oponent gets hit… ahhh only that

HaHaHa, Kirby gets a small version of Ike’s sword for The Eruption attack.

The up-B attack is crazy.

When I first saw Ike, i thought I would almost never play as him. But now that I’ve seen what he can do, he looks awesome!

Look at the first picture, he’s not throwing the sword straight up, he’s throwing it forward on a diagonal so that it hurts Samus in front of him.

ravenkikas is right, it’s gonna look like he’s Superman when he uses it in midair and suddenly zooms back up to it.
then again though I guess all the characters look that way when they double-jump or recover.

hey if you put your mouse over any pictures in this blog a rather amusing comment showes up… lol. i dont think it actualy goes that high the two pics are the same battle but two different aethers…he probably jumped once (mabey twice in the second pic) what happens to someone if there stabed, not just burned by eruption? would it do more damage? i dunno. hmm……..
oh and zant should be in brawl with his two swords and that red shadow ball :D

i wonder how that recovery is gonna work if he throws up the sword nd some1 is in hte air does it hurt them its pretty freaken high i have a feeling hes gonna be high tier for sure he ****s on marth nd roy tho

He’s probably slow though. So We’ll have to wait to see how he stacks up with the rest of the fighters.

i dont think his ^B move is much helpful if he gets sent sideways.
imean hed be terrible at catching the edges but that eruption is coool

Ike is only safe on the ground part of his up B attack because if it was stopped on the ground his sword would still be in the air.

What happens when this move is used mid-air?

I was thinkin the same thing about his in air up B but it could be the same thing as kirby’s right?

I f eruption is used in the air we can only assume what it will do. I guees it just charges and once b is clicked again it fastfalls him down to do the move.
