There wasn't a thread about this, if there is then mods can delete this one. This is taken directly from Wired.co.uk
Has this affected anyone else apart from me? I had to move my order to amazon and I should hopefully get it tommorrow...The Great Amiibo shortage of 2015 looks like it's about to get a whole lot worse; Nintendo has confirmed that a truck carrying its shipment of limited edition Splatoon figurines has been stolen.
Game says that due to the robbery it will not be able to supply customers with the Special Edition version of the game, which comes supplied with a Squid figure. It has emailed affected customers with the news, who have, unsurprisingly, made their disappointment known across social media.
It is not currently known where the lorry was stolen, or which police department is investigating. Needless to say there is no suggestion currently that the lorry was targeted specifically because of its precious gaming cargo.
Nintendo's Amiibo NFC toys have proven to be incredibly popular since their release, with special edition and other limited variant toys proving to be particularly -- even controversially -- popular. The Japanese games maker has even faced calls to reissue various models of the toy in order to undercut the growing market of resellers on eBay and other marketplaces charging inflated prices for the toys.
This latest news will hardly help: Nintendo confirmed to MCV that the truck containing Game's shipment of stock had been stolen.
Nintendo said: "We can confirm that the lorry transporting the Splatoon stock from Nintendo's European warehouse to Game UK has been stolen. Included as part of this delivery was Game's allocation of the Splatoon + Squid Inkling Amiibo and as a result we are unable to honour pre-orders for this item in Game."
"We are working with Game to contact those customers affected. Whilst these unfortunate circumstances were out of Nintendo UK and GAME's control, we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment that this has caused."
Nintendo and Game said replacement games will be sent out to ensure stock makes it to customers. Game is also offering a £10 discount for customers affected by the theft.
