I know it may be super deep into development to incorporate this mechanic into sm4sh but what if special dodges can be included for landing lag, for example if Link is caught up in the frames while he is removing his sword from the ground from a down air, he can press the guard button at the exact time his opponent strikes him, which will make Link avoid all or half damage and roll around his opponent to counter-strike, counter strikes however are manual and not part of the special dodge. A little hectic and Dragon Ball-esque with teleportations but it can work. It would require extreme precision. In turn the opponent of Link can also special dodge the counter-attack, but the correct time frame is cut by half, going twice as fast, that way a match can't be a special dodging jamboree. And the chance of timing the dodge right will continue halving until the chain is broken. Thoughts?
