So yeah Shinichiro Watanabe has a new anime out, and considering his flawless track record with Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Kids on the Slope, you should probably check it out. I have seen the first 4 episodes, and I really enjoyed them.

The plots are a bit erratic and
main characters consistently die only to be alive the next episode
But it's fun in a more refined crazy creative adventure time sort of way, and it's color palette is eye poppingly... garish as well, mostly it looks fantastic though. The jokes come quick and they are generally pretty great, ignoring an irking lack of depth to the cast so far that seems even more unusual considering it's a Watanabe series. Dandy is a cool character, but he has an interest in the female anatomy so overt that it begs the question if Watanabe stumbled upon pornography for the first time a month prior to writing the character. Also the cat thing is annoying, but it's a cat thing so... duh.

An overarching plot is kind of there with the clear bad guy floating around space in a ship made out of the statue of liberty's head, complete with a giant gag-ball in her mouth.

So if you were hoping for a bebop successor... you clearly watched none of the trailers for this show, but give it a chance anyways. What do you guys think of it so far?

There is a general anime discussion thread for this kind of thing. This thread most likely won't survive long.

one thread for all anime? wow. Okay then. I hope you're not referring to the thread for people who don't like anime.

I mean, the really popular ones like one piece and naruto have third own threads, but typically threads about smaller series die off.

The zombie episode was really good. The rest have been a mix between pretty good and boring, usually within the same episode.

The soundtrack and the animation(for the most part) have been amazing. I wish Kill la Kill had that budget.

It's not my favorite anime that I'm currently watching, but I'm looking forward to where it goes.

Yeah I agree, Episode 4 was fantastic. I hope they start pulling into more risky narrative structures like that one.

This anime is interesting. At first I wasn't sure if I'd keep watching, but episode 3 was funny, and episode 4 was amusing.
I like the western references.

Episode 22 of Samurai Champloo also features Watanabe having fun with zombies. The episode's nature is different though, which is good.

I rewatched it all recently with my friends, episode 4 is by far the most creative and fun. The flash-gordon/he-man/power-rangers influences make this show pretty fun.

I've only watched like two episodes but I'm hooked already. Watanabe is great at what he does.

With episode 5 introducing some new characters that may be recurring, I feel the self-contained episode structure will start to form into a full arc over the course of the series. Pretty much like every other single series Watanabe has done, besides kids on the slope.

Scratch my last opinion. But damn! Episode 9 was freaking nuts! That episode is officially the single greatest thing to ever watch high.
