Meaning I can only shine in one direction. Left. I have been practicing waveshining across the stage for hours and can do it pretty well on Peach now, but I can't do it while Fox is facing to the right. Seriously. Every time I shine in between wavedashes, I always turn him to the left. I have tried for the last 2 hours to break this habit, to no avail. I either shine to the left or forward b off stage to the right (thank you nintendo for making diagonal-down-b the same as over-b). There is no in between for me.

Does this foolishness afflict anyone else? Has anyone invented a way to edit control schemes yet?

I don't think I understand completely. So you want to do backwards waveshines (facing to the right and moving to the left) but you keep turning around? If that's the case, you just have to make an effort to jump before you move the control stick. If it's tough, slow time down to 1/2 or 2/3 in training mode. Get it down consistently in that, then go to normal speed. The only reason you turn around is because you're pressing the direction before you cancel the shine.

Now what I'm not sure about, is are you saying you can't waveshine to the right at all? Or you can waveshine to the right while facing to the left, but not the opposite (as I said above)?

No I can only do backwards waveshines when I'm wavedashing to the right. My fox faces to the left during every shine because I have ****** thumbs and can't press the stick straight down without deviating a little to the left.

You're likely sliding from down to left or down to right, this method increases your chances of simply turning in shine.

In most cases simply letting the control stick go back to neutral position in between shines will solve this problem.

I know. I tried this over and over but I can't do it fast enough to keep a waveshine going.

Press the jump button before you change your control stick's direction >_> Just take it slow like you did (maybe) when you first learned WDing.

Usually a problem like this is the controllers fault.
Dammit, beat me to it. OP, while you have a slight problem tilting the Control stick left when you try to go straight down, your controller may just be ****ed.

Try taking it apart and cleaning. Also, try playing with another controller to see if there's any difference. If neither one of these work, and the problem is you genuinely can't go straight down without naturally deviating to the left, try over compensating to the right. Play mindgames with your own thumb, and you'll always win.

Naw, it ain't the controller, as much as I would like that to be the problem. It's pretty new with a good stick, I just have down-syndrome fingers that always tilt a little bit to the right no matter how hard I try and keep my cool during a waveshine.

I can still shine with Fox facing to the right, I just have to be standing still/concentrating specifically to do that, otherwise I'm pretty much always a lefty.

Happens to me all of the time, I can only shine while facing right. Except in real matches when I absolutely NEED to face a certain way.
