Something Funky About Nook in Smashville (56k)

Look at this picture of Smashville, we can see 5 characters here right? Note where they're standing.

Now look at every other picture of Smashville, I'll give a couple examples.

We can see 4/5 of the positions are still occupied, every one but Nook's original one. Also note the Giraffe thing is gone, and I'm guessing that was her car too. Now we've got someone else there.

And...

Giraffe thingy is back with her car now, but hey, still no sign of Nook, or anyone taking his spot.

From all the pics I looked at, it's all the same. No one's taking Nook's spot, we aren't seeing Nook anywhere else. They CAN change spots, and even in different backgrounds too.

That weird pink thing moved spots from the first pic in this post, and Rover is even in the rock background, then on KK's set later. Could this be some sort of reserved spot or something?

jk, but yeah I noticed that too. It's really confusing to me, I don't understand how they can change back there since the entire stage is floating in the sky. For those who say Nook will not be in because he's in the background, maybe some other character would replace him if he were somehow playable.

Awesome name.

I'm guessing it stays the same the whole match, and that there's different backgrounds according to the time. Like 12:00PM-1:00PM and 5:00PM-6:00PM would have the diner thing, 8:00 Saturday would be the KK Show, and random times would be that rock background. All the characters would be random too I guess. No one can really know though.

I like the effort to grasp for nook. However Nook doesn't appear because either chance has him gone or the screen shot ends not showing Nook. However I'm not going to say Nook's not playable.

The thing is no one stands where Nook was in that background, and I don't think it can change during a match.

So no one stands where Nook stands.. that's no big deal. No one parks their car where the Giraffe parks her car. Plus we can only speculate upon what we've seen so far.

Yeah, but every other spot always has someone in it. Nook's spot is empty except for when he's there.

Also, the only pic with Tom Nook in it is the stage pic. He's not in any actual gameplay pics.

You're completely over-speculating. Look how many pictures he posted.. five. Five where we could see most of the stage. In none of the pictures Sakurai has posted has it ever been the same time of day, or the same arrangement of people (except in the screenshots with Diddy where it's trying to show consecutive action). It changes, nothing more. So what no one takes Nook's spot. Someone may very well take it in a different screenshot we haven't seen yet.

Besides, Nook has a store to run most of the day. He can't waste all of his time out on the fighting platform.

It didn't offend me. I just think that you were talking to me, and you were wrong because I wasn't over speculating anything. But it's not that big of a deal.

I just think it's odd that the only time we even see Tom Nook is in the stage pic. He doesn't appear one time in any gameplay screen shots that we've seen, and there's never anyone else standing there.

It looks to me like the characters in the background switch out. You can tell that the Animal Crossing humans are different each time.

I don't really think it brings any hope for Nook. He would have been a nice character, though.

This is a..."discovery"? Sakurai even says the background changes with time. Of course the characters change out and the scenery as time passes. There are like 100 AC characters that can make appearances.

In your second photo, that looks like Tom Nook on the far right taking the spot of the giraffe if you didn't know.

But I think that's a great detail, the characters might be walking back and forth and trading spots, even driving home when the day nears an end! Nice find.

Actually the horse thing took it in the 2nd pic. I'm just pointing something out also, I'd actually prefer Animal Crosser over Nook, so I'm not "being desperate" or whatever.

the characters just switch postions and leave "town" ocassionally onlyto be replaced by another character it makes sense since it is animal crossing the people and townarealways moving around

If Sakurai's crack team of programmers can't make Tom not appear when he isn't being played, then they must suck tremendously.
I have to say, no stage in Melee has no characters from its universe. Presume this holds true for Brawl, and I argue that Tom is the man (racoon) for the spot.

So please, quit saying "OMG HE IS IN TEH STAGE DECONFIRMED!!!111!!!!"
