I'm sure most of you know either Golden Sun or any of the Pokemon games for the Gameboy handhelds (Color/Advanced/SP/DS, etc). Those games were packed with "puzzles" and situations in which you had to think how to make your way through a specific place or path. For example, in Golden Sun, you'd have to use whirlwind on some weed that was hiding the entrance to a cave, or use the Lift ability to move a specific type of boulder that got in your way instead of pushing it with the Move ability. The Pokemon games have similar features.
And after I saw this video (after years of having played Golden Sun/Pokemon games) http://youtube.com/watch?v=fyhb702NJeA&feature=related, I thought that something weird was going on...
I mean, those little kids can summon all types of Gods who are capable of destroying half of the world (as you can see in those nice cutscenes) and use incredible magic spells, but they cant go past a layer of weed blocking the entrance to a cave without having the "WhirlWind" ability. That seems ridiculous.... and the same goes for pokemon games. You have... say.. Steelix, but none of your pokemon know the Cut move and you suddenly hit a cuttable tree. What on earth stops you from making your gigantic Steelix crush that tree with his body? It'd be much easier than having to teach one of your pokemon that ****ty Cut move.
Don't you think this doesnt make sense? =/
