some small sheik problems

lately i've been playing with my buddy who mains sheik who is now starting to really get into the game and he has a pretty good basic understanding of wd, lc, and such. honestly he knows his combos pretty well and all that i've learned and asked questions about this matchup from pros i've been using and constantly 3-4 stocking him, its just sometimes i get bother by sheiks long grabs. i've learned that fairing a sheik with the tip is a great way to make the sheik play defensive because if she is smart, she will keep her distance and try to find another way to approach, but my friend sometimes takes the hit by cc and grabs me at low percents, although its a tipped fair.

is it just plain luck or did he somehow cc DI towards me and was able to grab?

i have more problems i will bring them up as things progress.

He probably grabbed you during your next strike, marths sword=grab range if they grab the exact moment of the attack.

or I misunderstood..but if you hear the attack hit and hes still grabbing you, hes just Ccing to a grab, nothing special.

the thing is though, sheik doesn't have the grab range of a tipped fair, sometimes he gets me and sometimes he doesn't(he hardly gets me but its just kind of annoying to have a tipped fair hit someone, have them cc it and somehow get an enormous grab range). thats the main reason why its so important for marth's to be so concerned about spacing in this matchup so sheik doesn't get off grabs, the main thing a sheik relies on in this matchup is to abuse marth for some of his laggy moves and get in his space by utilizing her speed.

btw, this is exactly what husband told me to do, i'm not trying to say your wrong, but she shouldn't be able to do it, either its a flaw in the game or although my i did a tipped fair, it just wasn't quite spaced well enough.

Eh, it seems like to me you're answering your own question? You're saying you're tipping the fair, he cc's and grabs you but yet she "shouldnt" be able to yet she does, well crap happens is all I can tell you.

haha, i guess i'm just trying to find a logical reason rather than believing that the game just screws me over sometimes, but i guess that ish happens.

Another thing though, when i'm coming up from the edge and i edgehop to a nair and shffl it, normally i've seen ken sometimes spotdodge or simply roll out of the way while the sheik is sheilding waiting for the grab, is that simply just quick fingers because everytime i try it regardless of spacing my friend seems to get me 70% of the time when he reads me.

is there a reason for why i'm not able to perform that or is it that i'm just no ken? lol

Are you saying you're too slow? If so, the quickest way to perform a spot dodge or roll when you're landing is to hold L/R and push the C-stick in the direction you want to roll or down to spot dodge - it performs the move at the fastest possible frame.

haha, maybe that will work i'll try it sometime soon and let you know if that works, i only ask that question because i've seen ken do it against dsf several times.

Also remember that you need to hit lower on the sheik's shield because lower = more stun.
