Some issues I have been having with a new White Gamecube Controller

The first issue is minor -- the spring on the L trigger is squeaky. Hopefully that will go away as the controller gets worn in. The other issue is more of a concern -- at random intervals, the R trigger will seem to "catch" on to the part within the shoulder that registers light presses, and require additional pressure to push past. I have tried to reproduce the problem, but it isn't always reproduced 100% of the time. Did anyone else have these problems when they played on their new White Controller?

In my experience, this happens when you press the trigger buttons at an angle, or at the bottom edge of the button (towards the back of the controller). After getting used to it, it hasn't happened much, if at all. If it's the same situation with your controller then I wouldn't worry too much about it, you should be able to avoid it as well.

Alright, thanks for the reply. As for the squeaking spring, will that go away over time?

Yeah most likely, mine doesn't squeak anymore either. I take it the issue with the trigger getting stuck was as I said, then?
Kind of, depending on your definition of "stuck". When the trigger catches that part, it just requires additional pressure, it doesn't get stopped entirely.

Yeah I know what you mean, pretty sure we're experiencing the same thing. You're good. :)

I just checked again. It is more of a rattling sound than it is a squeaking sound, if that will make any difference in our experiences.

Mine doesn't squeak, but my L button does get 'catch' when pushed in at an angle. I sanded down the area of contact in the shell and it's a little better but still present. Damn you Nintendo!

The majority of them came like this. I was pretty pissed and posted on here like yourself. Luckily a friend opened the controller up to fix it for me. Theres no "getting used to it". It gets stuck in some of the most crucial of moments. Id say open it and if not possible atm use another controller for now.

Mine doesn't have either of those issues. Sounds defective, but if Guel is correct that the majority of them have been like this I doubt you'd be able to get it replaced. Wouldn't hurt to try though.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Hopefully I can still return it, if that becomes necessary.

Do you know what he did to fix it?

This issue has come up at least once before. If you can, I would suggest opening up the controller and checking it out. It could be flash.
