Exploring Tallon IV
Alright, so here are just a few things I've discovered the past couple days with the character, feel free to enlighten me with your findings as well!
Edgeguarding - When it comes to Edgeguarding, Mac's horrid recovery and aerials stop him from being able to actually jump off of the stage and try fancy or actually effective edgeguarding techniques, but we CAN however use our Down Smash and Up Smash. His Up Smash's arc actually reaches slightly below the ledge so if timed properly you can get an Up Smash off on people who don't sweetspot the ledge or have wonky recovery moves that come from below the stage (ie. C. Falcon, Marth etc.) Down Smash also works similarly, although it should be used to punish people recovering from above the ledge as opposed to below or directly horizontal to it. There is another way to edgeguard effectively, but it deserves its own section
Super Armor on moves - One of Mac's moves that has Super Armor is his Neutral Special but how do we use it properly? Well for starters it can also be used as a edgeguarding tool as the punch reaches really far out and you can punish people coming from directly horizontal to the ledge or people who don't sweetspot their recovery coming from below the ledge. However, it can also be used to punch and hit through certain attacks like weaker tilts or dash attacks. I don't have any kind of comprehensive list of what you can and can't hit through yet, but I'm willing to work with you all to create one if you'd all like. You can also punch through weak projectiles like Falco's lasers, so that's neat. I want to confirm Super Armor on other moves before I delve deeper into the mechanic itself, but the concept of Super Armor is something I encourage all Mac mains to explore as its something we must exploit to its fullest to stand a chance
Up Smash - Oh yeah its this move again, only I'd ike to tell/remind you all that you can use Up Smash during a dash (kinda like a DACUS from Brawl) and the excellent range of the move will likely catch opponents off guard and even beat out/outrange their move if they chose something with a similar range. I've taken so many stocks with this tactic, its crazy
Wish I had the ability to record footage. I have so many replays I wanna share, but oh well
