First things first. Cool for Piplup, now, what does this mean?

There is a final squashing for alternate pokemon for PT alt costumes. I know some people (including me) were hoping that an alt costume for PT would be able to change which starters you used. It is a tragedy (and obvious reality) that this cannot happen.

Those are some pretty sweet water graphics.

At least I think so. I hope I will be even more impressed to see them dynamic.

I think that this means Marill will no longer be in a pokeball (or at least doing the same thing.) This looks like a pretty solid replacement. The end-all effect is the same, even if the move is different. I'll never claim to know Sakurai's mind though, so anything is possible.

I wonder if it does damage?

Feel free to reply with your thoughts on my thoughts on Sakurai's thoughts. Or, just let this poor thread sink down to the bottomless abyss of un-loved threads.

Here is the update I am referring to.

Having different sets of starters for each costume would be considerably difficult. While the starter water types are [almost] the same, the second and definitely the third evolutions changed throughout the series. It would've been nice, though...*sigh*

Well, it wouldn't exactly be different for each pokemon. The theory to my understanding was that it would simply be different animations completing essentially the same thing. This was weakened when Charizard could glide but now it is official.

You know, that is interesting. They could easily change the PT in the background but will it even be necessary to differentiate between pokemon on screen. I guess they will have to to eliminate confusion but I just can't see Charizard wearing a party hat.
