SoCal Ness player

Hey folks! My name's Joey, and I've been playing Smash Bros. regularly since the very first released for N64. EarthBound was my favorite game as a kid, and I recall inordinate excitement when I first heard that Ness would be playable. To a 9 year old who'd never known anyone else to have played EarthBound and had no idea how popular the Mother trilogy was in Japan (or even that EarthBound had another name and was part of a trilogy,) I childishly felt as though they had put Ness in the game just for me. From his glory days in the original to his lows in Melee and Brawl, he's been my main character in every game to date, and I eagerly await his confirmation for SSBU/3D.

I'm a very skilled player, having won a few Melee tournaments in high school, but having lost my melee disc during a move, Brawl is my SSB game of choice these days. I quit the local competitive scene after having been turned off by several bad experiences with other kids acting unsportsmanlike, but now that I'm an adult and with SSBU/3D around the corner, I think I'm ready to jump back in. I felt like joining this community would help to facilitate that. Looking forward to meeting you all, and hopefully playing the new game together!

I respect the Ness dedication. I'm a dedicated Fire Emblem player so my main will always be someone from that franchise (of course, that couldn't be the case on the N64 iteration of Smash Bros. because there were no FE reps).

Glad you're excited for the upcoming Smash games and I hope you enjoy your time being apart of our community here

I'm a big fan of the Fire Emblem series, too! Roy was another favorite of mine in Melee. I actually speak Japanese fluently, and my original motivation for studying it was to be able to play the Fire Emblem games and Mother 3. (I have since found other, probably more worthy reasons to continue studying.)

Ha ha, you definitely have a passion for video games I see! That's awesome. I used mainly Marth in Melee, Ike in Brawl, and Roy in PM (though since all three of them are together, I use them all in PM, but mainly Roy). Ike is my favorite lord/protagonist of them all so he's looking to be my Smash Wii U/3DS main as well. But if another FE newcomer like Lucina, Anna or Robin gets in, I'll probably co-main. Same case with Shulk if he gets in considering my love for Xenoblade.

My favorite main character is probably Hector, but I would be very surprised to see him playable, haha. I'm still holding out for a Chrom / Lucina duo a la Ice Climbers. Given teaming up was Awakening's main mechanic, I think it'd be an awesome way to represent that game.

Seems like many have given up on the Chrom / Lucina duo though- There's still somewhat of a Chrom vs. All other FE newcomers dispute going around on the forums.

The duo idea for those two would definitely something to see.
