Just noticed this. From what I can tell, the PMBR did it by coding light shield and hard shield presses to count as different inputs, rather than as different states of a single command.

Unless its always worked that way. Then I'm silly

Either way, major props to y'all. This makes the game feel so much smoother! :bee:

You can actually light press one shoulder and then full press the other to WD OoS, that or I'm letting go of the first shoulder button without realizing.

Oh, right, you can do it that way as well, since P:M registers the light press and full press as two totally different inputs. Anyway, the point is, in Melee, you could full press one trigger to shield and then full press the other trigger (without letting go of the first one) to WD OoS. Can't do that anymore.

I have a shield button set to Y so wavedashing out of shield has literally never been a problem for me.

Then how've I had absolutely no problem doing it with every character in the game since before 2.0? I didn't even know there was supposedly an issue with it.

There is an issue with L and R being seen as the same button so that unlike Melee where you can full press L for shield, jump, and use R to air dodge while still holding L to wavedash (and vice-versa), in P:M you can't unless you let completely go of L/R before you air dodge. This causes some issues with people who used that method in melee to wavedash OoS.

So do you basically shield drop then wavedash? I'm one of those people that's used both triggers for wavedashing OoS for years. All this time playing P:M I just thought my tech skill died after my hiatus.

No, it goes more like Pressing R to shield --> Jump -> let go of R somewhat -> press R fully. Naturally you can replace R with L. I was actually somewhat wrong with what I previously said, you only have to let off L/R halfway so that it's not being pressed fully, which is the same as wavedashing with one shoulder button in Melee. You can also halfway press L/R to shield (like lightshielding in Melee) and then use the other to wavedash, but that messes with muscle memory a bit and doesn't transfer between the two games.

i have no idea if they have fixed this but as of late in the streams i've seen there seems to be alot more WDOOS compared to any other matches i've seen in 2.6, plus its the same people (except prof. pro, he's been doing it some way for a loooooong time as far as i can see)

the other thing is that we don't know if the builds they showcase on any stream is a build that has everything, i'd go as far to say that they have been playing solely with builds that have all characters+new-stages and not engine fixes (not yet i hope)

Apparently there will be a blog post going over engine improvements sometime before 3.0 is released. So hopefully we'll know soon if this one of the things they were able to fix.

Ahh I see, thanks for clarifying.

I tend to use y for jumping and R for Wavedashing. .-.

 I've been doing it since 2.0. It's never been hard for me to do. As long as you can jump OoS you can wavedash.

I'm hoping 3.0 will allow this. Are bots attacking the site again? Yesterday night I couldn't look at the site.

Whenever I would try to wavedash OoS the jump would register but the air dodge wouldn't. It seems to be related to which technique you use to wavedash and how hard your press your triggers. By releasing the shield button (L for shield, R for air dodge) sooner I have been able to pull it off. Maybe it has something to do with holding a trigger while you air dodge with another? I realized that I hold L almost until the end of my wavedash in melee.

That's no problem...

I never use the L trigger. Everything on the R trigger...uneless it was Melee and I try to do the recovery thingy with Samus. XD

no, but you don't have to do that to WDOoS, WDOoS works 100% perfectly, just not with your muscle memory
It's a good thing for the muscle memory of Melee players to carry over to PM. It allows for more people to seamlessly play both games at the same time.

That's exactly what it is. Brawl registers L and R as same button so when you keep holding L it doesn't register an R input.

Ohhhhh ok, thats what you meant lol. I'm quite technical across the board with most characters which is prob why my Snake looks fast.

:awesome: Everyone is a noob and needs to step their tech skill game up :awesome:

:awesome::awesome: Except you Strong Bad and Jolteon cos you have auto combos :awesome::awesome:

I wish my character's combos took skill. :(

edit: I agree with Prof, it's not really difficult. I've never really had any issue doing it since 2.0, but in Melee I wd oos with 1 trigger anyway so it's basically the same input for me in PM.

Yeah i guess it comes down to how you learned it and ****, its just so many people do it the "normal" way, which is with both triggers
i wonder when you guys are gonna release the blog post about the engine improvements
