Smash Wii U So um, I just went to my very first big Wii U tournament....

Just got back from DVDA #8 here in Vegas, and I had the time of my life.
Almost made it out of my pool as Ganon, made lots of new friends while having fun with my best ones,
and I actually got to play a friendly match with Mew2King. I'm serious. Two stocked twice and I'm really, really happy about it, seriously. K9 was there too, and he was chill.
I'm seriously just so happy right now, so... What was your guys' first tournaments like?

Well first and foremost, congrats on going to your first tournament! Most people I know are extremely nervous during their first tournament meetup.
Going off that, when I went too my first Smash Tournament I was EXTREMELY nervous haha. It was awhile back but I think I got 8th place out of a 32+ bracket (SSBB).

I've never been to a tournament myself, but it sounds like you had a great time. That sounds great! Glad you met the legend himself there.

Just curious, which characters (Other than Ganondorf) did you use?

Never been to a tournament myself, and I think the only thing that'd make me go to one, is if a close friend was into Smash as much as I am and we went there together. Doing that kind of stuff alone kinda loses the appeal to me. Sure, I could go and meet some new people, but in the end, even if I enjoy myself, its gonna be with a bunch of strangers, so bleh, I'd rather go with someone I already know.

I would love for that to happen, though.

Either way, congratulations on your first tournament, sounds like you had fun.

Thanks guys ^_^ I honestly was a bit nervous but I turned out fine, and I did go with my best friend ("Redjarhead" as he likes to be referred to), but everyone was so nice :D

My first tournament was in 2008 with Brawl's release. I was only able to win one set. At that point I was a Luigi/Lucas main in the game.

Same, I got knocked into losers first round. The guy who beat me was awesome about it though. I won my second set 2-0 and I thought that was amazing. Then I got knocked out.

But it was still fun.

Played in one more tournament in 2009 and haven't been to one since. I would really like to get back into it though.
