So those outlines are ugly, right?

I really like the outlines. When I saw the smash 3ds game with it, I was actually surprised that other games didn't have it. Just glad you can get rid of it, so people can stop complaining about it.

Yeah I never tripped about them either, then again people will find anything to complain about.

All I know is i'm removing the outline for Wii Fit Trainer.
I never heard of that idea. I think the outline is for everyone, where if you want the outlines, everyone has it, but if you don't, no one does.

This is interesting, the outlines at first reminded me of Mario Strikers which was kinda cool actually.

More then anything I'm extremely happy to see Wii Fit Trainer and the Villager in a 3DS picture, it's about time!

A bunch of people have randomly hoped they could turn the lines off though, so Sakurai made a good move there.

The outlines were added for a reason: To help you see the characters from a distance. Ugly or not, visibility would be crucial in an intense match, so I might keep the outlines.

I admittedly appreciate them, but like that there's an option to tone them down.

Having an outline for characters like Game and Watch would be a little redundant.

I forgot about him. Would the outlines even show for him, or do you think you can see a separate outline for him?

Mr. Game & Watch would definitely be an interesting case in terms of those outlines I'm interested to see if he gets the same treatment or not.

Although I am actually one of those people who weren't too fond of the outlines. I don't hate them though and it certainly isn't a dealbreaker for me. Even if they were forced on I would still buy the game. But I was hoping a little that we would get an option to adjust them or switch them off completely if we so wish too. Glad Sakurai thought about it. :)

I don't care about those outlines, they aren't ugly also regularly they automatically adjust to the character's base colour and they're there for a reason anyway.

Seriously wouldn't portable Smash Bros make more sense if they just use this type of style? like 2D sprites or something similar, maybe only in my dreams (T-T)

I'd be cool but I don't want it to feel like Super Smash Flash 2 :l I'd rather have it stay 3D

I really liked the outlines. The only thing I disliked it how people thought it was toon shaded because of them when it clearly isn't.

^ maybe it should be...
On a small screen like the 3DS they would have to be careful on how dominant and deep the shadows got. It could render some of the smaller details pointless and the stages and characters might not look that true to their games if they aren't careful. It could go either way. Then Again they could also face backlash (I mean look at how many people disliked the outlines.)

I don't mind the outlines too much. I think that it adds to the graphical style of the 3DS version in my opinion.

Although it has already been stated previously ad infinitum, Sakurai has confirmed border outline customization. At the very least, we are allowed some range of possibilities to select as per our preferences toward the border lines, whether agreeable or disagreeable.

With this in mind, I do believe that the characters' outlines would do better to distinguish themselves on an otherwise smaller screen on a 3DS, so indeed, I am in favor of this concept. Although, it is such a disheartening shame that so many others scathingly disapprove of this visual compensation.

I really like the different artstlye directions they took with the 3DS and Wii U versions. The 3DS cel-shaded character borders will make characters more noticeable on a smaller screen especially at far zooms. It's great to have the option though; Sakurai's always thinking with the play in mind.

What I really like about the outlines is that everyone can have their own preference on their own screen. If I want no outlines and someone wants outlines, it wouldn't affect each other because we have our own screen. I could see this becoming a problem on local multiplayer for the Wii U, but not a HUGE problem.

Wii U doesn't have lines.
