So there's actually a base hitstun value now?

The in-progress community patch notes say that there are a few hitstun changes here and there without any knockback change.

If this is actually true, then thank God. I understand that hitstun should be tied to knockback, but I really couldn't fathom why they couldn't just have a base hitstun value on top of that. This will solve a lot more balancing problems than anything Brawl and Melee hackers can do.

Hmm, can you give an example of what you mean in terms of balancing?

If the only way to adjust hitstun is to adjust knockback, that would create a whole set of issues because you can never make finer adjustments to account for the movement speeds of characters. Having a base hitstun value, on the other hand, makes this actually possible.

This explains a few things - I thought I was getting fewer combos with Falcon, but I figured it was my imagination. Does this mean Sakurai's reneged on his promise to make Smash 4 appeal to competitive and casual Smash fans?
