Sounds like Strikers, but even worse competitively online XD.
Really, why not just mimic a system like Halo's? It strives people to get better and be a higher level or atleast have a good record. I was planning to get sponsored in Brawl.. Harder now that you wont even see the name of the guy you're playing if they arent a friend.

Having all the aspects of an Xbox live type of gaming would mean money. Though it is only 50 dollars a year, it is still something. Maybe should nintendo make like a NINTENDO LIVE lool

I can somewhat understand the no rankings... and even the no record (which is lame)...

But not knowing who you are playing against, that might be the stupiest thing I've ever heard when it comes ont an online fighter.

Are you kidding me? Who cares if there isn't ranking or levels? You get to play online. You get to play with anyone in the world whenever you want. When you are by yourself you can practice against humans and not computers. Why does the online need ranks? That's what the tournaments are for. It seems to work fine for melee. People who get ranked now through tournaments are going to still go to Brawl tournaments. They aren't going to just rely on online rankings so nothing will change. Melee tournaments are events, and Brawl tournaments will be too.

Play Station as the same service and is free, so it has nothin to do with it, and yes, the ps3 is more expensive, but not because online. even if there was no ps3 to compare with, the ds has online, so ur point makes no sense

Hmm...do real live tournaments where you interact with people face to face not exist anymore?

Online is awesome and I'm not complaining (no more mindlessly killing computers) but I really wish you could at least see who you were fighting. That way if by chance you fought someone you knew, you would be aware of it.

It's because nintendo doesn't care about real gamers. There, I said it.

Anyways, I should know who I'm playing, seriously nintendo, I can live with the other stuff, but you really dropped the bomb there.
Real gamers were around before ranking systems were developed my pre-pubescent friend.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, people will probably just abuse the system if you care about it so much do what th0rn said.

People will make bombs and blow up buildings too but does that mean we shouldn't continue making skyscrapers and monuments?

ok like i said im posting this in all online threads

There will also be no battle records kept for this mode, so whether you win or lose, it doesn’t matter. Just sit back and play.

We’re planning a number of services that make use of Wi-Fi, but we’ll reveal them gradually with the other modes. Enjoy.

so there you go

All I want is voice chat. I know that it won't happen, but it should've been a no brainer. Then you could actually ask for a person's friend code.

If there were rankings online, then major rankism problems will occur. Chances are that there will be a ranking system for friend battles, because someone you know won't drop out of a battle to get a better score.

Ranks for friends are useless, they are your friends, you know how good they are no one needs a rank to show them that. They might as well no include ranking in friend matches.

Because no one gives a sh*t about winning or losing. It's a video game, it's about fun.
